About The Position

Join BGC Okanagan as a Director of Childcare! The Director of Childcare – West Kelowna & South Region will provide strategic and operational leadership across an established portfolio of childcare programs while leading the successful opening, stabilization, and long-term sustainability of three new licensed childcare centres over the coming year. This leadership role is responsible for building strong, sustainable operations, developing high-performing teams, fostering meaningful community partnerships, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional, high-quality childcare programs that create lasting positive outcomes for children and families. Requirements

• Demonstrated operational and administrative management experience, including financial management, strategic planning, organizational leadership, human resources, communication, program administration, and knowledge of counselling and social services. These competencies are typically acquired through completion of a university degree in a discipline relevant to BGC Okanagan's operations or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three to five years of progressively responsible management experience, preferably within the community social services sector, with demonstrated expertise in childcare and community-based programs and services, applicable legislation, policies, and best practices.
• Experience managing community partnerships and stakeholder relations is required.
• Demonstrated experience leading and supporting early years and school-age childcare programs.
• Current knowledge of research, evidence-informed practices, and emerging trends in child development.
• Knowledge of BC Childcare Licensing Regulations, and Provincial Childcare funding initiatives.
• Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean abstract
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada to be considered for employment. Eligible applicants include Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and individuals with refugee status who are legally entitled to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for childcare operations, ensuring programs align with the organization's vision, mission, strategic priorities, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of high-quality, sustainable childcare programs and services.
• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with municipalities, school districts, Indigenous communities, funders, and community organizations to enhance services and respond to community needs.
• Identify funding opportunities and lead grant applications, business cases, and program development initiatives to support organizational growth.
• Oversee regional budgets, financial planning, forecasting, and resource allocation to ensure fiscal accountability and operational excellence.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team, fostering employee engagement, accountability, professional growth, and a positive workplace culture.
• Ensure effective workforce planning, performance management, and compliance with Agency policies, licensing standards, and legislative requirements.
• Monitor program outcomes, analyze performance data, and prepare reports to meet funder, contractual, and organizational accountability requirements.
• Represent the organization on committees, working groups, and community initiatives, advocating for children, families, and accessible, high-quality childcare.
• Contribute as a member of the Leadership Team by supporting strategic planning, organizational priorities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
