About The Position

This role focuses on leading initiatives related to student development, engagement, residential living, and leadership development within a higher education setting. The Director will be responsible for supervising staff, managing budgets, and fostering a positive and inclusive campus environment. The position requires strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills, with a background in student affairs units such as residence life, student activities, orientation, and campus events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (communication, education, social work, education, psychology, etc.).
  • Five (5) years of full-time experience leading higher education (or higher education adjacent) initiatives related to student development, student engagement, residential living, and leadership development.
  • Demonstrated experience of supervising full-time professional staff.
  • Demonstrated positive impacts across diverse populations with culturally relevant program development and administration.
  • Experience in decision-making, budget management, and ability to work effectively in a team relationship.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with proficiency in analytical and critical thinking with the ability to make decisions following appropriate consultation.
  • Higher education experience related to working within student affairs units such as residence life, student activities, orientation, and campus events.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a related field (communication, higher education administration, counseling, social work, education, psychology, etc.).
  • 2+ years supervising full-time professional staff.
  • Experience in new student orientation.
  • Experience advising student government associations.
  • Experience related to managing several divergent tasks simultaneously, managing change, and advising student organizations.
  • Experience with on-call/emergency response.
  • Experience with student conduct.
