About The Position

The Director of Business Systems & Transformation will serve as an enterprise business partner to executive and functional leaders, translating business priorities into scalable processes, reliable information, and practical technology-enabled operating structures. The role will help leaders see opportunities to work more effectively and will convert those opportunities into measurable business results. This leader will own the enterprise roadmap, governance, optimization, and evolution of LaFrance's business systems, data, automation, and related processes. The position is initially a player-coach role, combining strategic leadership with hands-on discovery, analysis, solution architecture, and implementation oversight. As enterprise capability and capacity grow, the role is expected to evolve toward a greater concentration on leadership, governance, and strategy.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration Management and/or Operations, Information Systems, Technology, or a related field, and/or 10+ years of relevant experience leading business systems, process improvement, operations, project management, or business transformation initiatives.
  • Experience partnering with business leaders to improve operations through technology.
  • Ability to review application architecture, evaluate technical design, guide development approaches and effectively mentor software developers.
  • Creative problem solver using advanced Artificial Intelligence tools to streamline efficiency.
  • Strong project leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience leading ERP and enterprise business-application environments within a complex, multi-site organization.
  • Experience developing or supporting Microsoft Dynamics Business Central extensions (AL) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience designing, developing, and providing technical leadership for custom software, system integrations, and enterprise business applications.
  • Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands-on analysis, solution architecture, configuration, software development oversight, troubleshooting and solution delivery within a lean organization.
  • Required Experience in: RMS (AS400), Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, Microsoft Power Platform, AI Applications (Claude, OpenAI, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Partner with leaders across Finance, Operations, Manufacturing, Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Customer Experience, Human Resources, and external technology partners.
  • Lead the strategy, architecture, governance, optimization, and ongoing enhancement of enterprise business systems, including, RMS (AS400), Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, Air Table workflow automation, and future business applications.
  • Identify and lead cross-functional business process improvement initiatives that simplify work, improve efficiency, and enhance collaboration.
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural oversight for custom application development, integrations, Microsoft Dynamics Business Central extensions (AL), and AI solutions by establishing development standards, reviewing solution designs, and ensuring maintainable implementations.
  • Evaluate and implement practical AI, automation, and digital technologies that improve productivity and decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain the reporting, data, and business intelligence infrastructure that enables timely, accurate, and data-driven decision making across the organization.
  • Lead strategic business systems projects from planning through implementation while minimizing operational disruption.
  • Support organizational change through communication, training, and adoption planning.
  • Lead and develop the Business Systems team while fostering continuous learning and innovation.
  • Manage relationships with our implementation partners and consultants.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
