The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. The centers provide campus-based direct services and supports at 13 centers located throughout the state. Under the direction of the Associate Commissioner for State Supported Living Centers, the Director of Business Operations for SSLCs directs and oversees state-office management support of the business and support services areas for the thirteen (13) SSLCs to facilitate quality of services, consistency, and ensure execution the Associate Commissioner’s goals and vision for the SSLC. Establishes a strategic plan for the assigned area in accordance with standards set out by HHSC and the SSLC division. Serves at the discipline coordinator for the SSLCs thirteen (13) Assistant Director of Administrations (ADOAs), provides routine technical assistance to them. Serves as liaison to other HHS areas and the Health and Specialty Care System division office on matters related to IT, maintenance and construction, position/workforce management, contracting, competency training and development (CTD) and budget. Directs and oversees provision of training and technical assistance to state office and SSLCs to comply with ICF-IID regulations and HHSC policies and procedures. Participates as a member of, and oversees the work of other members of, the state review team in the areas of workforce development and life safety. Overseas and participates in the performance of a variety of technical, research, planning, policy, program assessment, and administrative activities. Oversees preparation of reviews and analyzes required reports. Uses data to provide feedback on performance and drive decision making. Directs and oversees contracts and special projects for the SSLCs as assigned. Provides leadership and strategic direction to staff in assigned areas and performs associated managerial functions. Serves on and/or directs the work of committees and workgroups. Responds to requests for data/information regarding SSLC operations. Advises the Deputy Associate Commissioner on the status of administrative and business processes and systems and makes recommendations for improvements. Promotes positive working relationships with outside agencies and with other SSLC departments. Serves as a member of the SSLC Executive Leadership Team. Serves on and/or directs the work of committees and workgroups. Performs other duties as assigned. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
