About The Position

KBK Management is a tech-forward entertainment business management firm serving musicians, touring artists, and entertainment executives. We are a team of 15, with about half based in Los Angeles, operating out of a converted home in Highland Park. Our culture is intentionally human, unpretentious, and built for the work. We value honesty, integrity, creativity, curiosity, and humor, believing in mutual support and genuine feedback. We are seeking a leader who can integrate the roles of controller, tax director, operations manager, and team builder. This position reports directly to the founder and will oversee bookkeeping staff, the Tax Manager, and the business management team, acting as a central point of connection across all firm functions. The role requires comfortable cross-functional leadership, moving fluidly between tax, accounting, operations, and client relationships. The founder has extensive tax and controller experience, allowing the new director to have full ownership and build this function. The role is hands-on initially to ensure a deep understanding of the work, with the ultimate goal of building a team that can eventually manage these functions independently. The focus is on understanding all functions to enable intelligent hiring, delegation, and the creation of a self-sustaining operation.
