About The Position

The Director of Business Development (DBD) is responsible for the development and implementation of business and marketing plans for the Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Denton, a new 40-bed rehabilitation hospital opening in spring of 2027. This role involves establishing strategic marketing plans in collaboration with senior leadership to achieve facility objectives. The position designs and maintains strong relationships with Managed Care Providers, Medicare, Case Managers, other payers, and appropriate hospital personnel to develop and maintain a robust patient referral network and beneficial reimbursement arrangements. The Director of Business Development is responsible for the overall management of the Marketing and Admission Team. This role requires implementing a comprehensive business plan to meet or exceed Census and Mix Forecasts, including identifying internal and external targets, insurance rate targets, and action plans for the Clinical Liaison Team. The business plan will be reviewed and updated at least quarterly. The role also involves gathering external market information, managing the clinical liaison and admissions teams, understanding all business development roles, developing and managing the marketing department's operating budget, and maintaining a database system for decision support, including community needs, demand forecasting, utilization of programs and services, competitive analysis, and medical staff utilization trends. Software tools including LifePoint information systems will be utilized for statistical analysis. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Clinical License or Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in healthcare management preferred.
  • Excellent skills in forecasting, market-based planning, communications, and public relations.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement business and marketing plans for the Rehabilitation Hospital.
  • Establish strategic marketing plans in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Design and maintain a system for strong relationships with Managed Care Providers, Medicare, Case Managers, other payers, and appropriate hospital personnel.
  • Develop and maintain a strong and successful patient referral network and beneficial reimbursement arrangements.
  • Oversee the overall management of the Marketing and Admission Team.
  • Implement a comprehensive business plan to ensure Census and Mix Forecasts are met and/or exceeded.
  • Identify internal and external targets (by specific referral groups and percentages) and insurance rate targets (averages).
  • Develop action plans to evaluate the effectiveness of the Clinical Liaison Team.
  • Access and update the business plan no less than quarterly.
  • Gather comprehensive external information on markets, customers, and competitors on a continual basis.
  • Manage the clinical liaison and admissions teams.
  • Develop and manage the marketing department's operating budget.
  • Develop, organize, and maintain a database system for decision support information.
  • Utilize software tools including LifePoint information systems, internal data, and external database information for statistical analysis.
