About The Position

Reporting directly to the VP, Strategy and Go-to-Market, this position will provide leadership and support to the Temperature Sensing & Thermochemical Labels segment's strategic growth function. The Director, Business Development – Temperature Sensing will work closely with the VP, key senior management, business unit leaders, and vertical/portfolio strategists to identify the best ways to extend and accelerate sensor portfolio strategies using strategic partnerships and direct market execution. This role will also work with and support Corporate Development to scale this business segment from $70M to $250M through targeted healthcare and food/beverage cold-chain strategies. The role requires the candidate to reside in the United States, with proximity to the Morris Plains, NJ office, and the ability to work a hybrid schedule (minimum of 3 days per week in-office) and travel both domestically and internationally up to 25% (or as business dictates). The Director will collaborate closely with the VP Strategic Development, business unit leaders, and strategists to identify key temperature-sensing market opportunities in the pharmaceutical and vaccine cold chain. For select, prioritized verticals, the role acts as the strategic development partner to the responsible business unit, which includes articulating precise go-to-market and commercial scaling strategies; defining and refining search and filter criteria to help identify key NGO (e.g., GAVI, UNICEF) and pharmaceutical partners; developing a funnel of strategic commercial opportunities through research, networking, etc.; leading a process with leadership and key stakeholders to prioritize partners and targets for further engagement; engaging prioritized targets to further qualify their fit and viability; creating strategy and business case analyses and presentations for prioritized opportunities; and presenting opportunities to senior leadership. The role plays a key part in ensuring the effective integration of all complex global partnerships to maximize value creation and achieve environmental sensor sales goals. It drives the process to develop tactical and strategic plans to more closely align new and existing operations and develops and tracks financial measures post-partnership to ensure synergy realization. The Director will lead by example, model Zebra’s core values, deliver results, and build strong relationships with Zebra’s Senior Management. The role also collaborates closely with the VP, Strategy and Go-to-Market to further develop and refine AVS strategic development process and deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 15+ years of progressive professional experience, with a heavy emphasis on strategy, business planning, or management consulting.
  • Proven track record of direct people management, including building, mentoring, and leading high-performing, global teams aligned with broader business objectives.
  • Direct professional experience working within the Healthcare, Life Sciences, or MedTech sectors.
  • Must reside in the United States, with proximity to the Morris Plains, NJ office.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule (minimum of 3 days per week in-office) and travel both domestically and internationally up to 25% (or as business dictates).

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Strong background in the technology sector, with specific exposure to smart data capture, advanced sensors, or IoT technology.
  • Familiarity with the pharmaceutical industry and comfort engaging with global health partnerships, international health consortiums, or non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
  • Exemplary executive communication, presentation, and storytelling skills; comfortable influencing and collaborating with C-suite stakeholders.
  • Sophisticated negotiation, persuasion, and partnership-building capabilities.
  • Advanced financial acumen, strategic framework proficiency, and the ability to translate complex data sets into highly structured, executive-ready presentations.
