About The Position

A growing home healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Director of Billing to lead all billing and revenue cycle operations. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing, optimizing reimbursement, maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations, and coordinating closely with intake, clinical, authorization, quality assurance, and finance teams. The Director of Billing will oversee billing staff, authorization personnel, and related revenue cycle functions while monitoring denials, accounts receivable, payment variances, and audit readiness. The ideal candidate is a strategic and hands-on leader with deep expertise in home health billing and a proven ability to improve revenue cycle performance and compliance. Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of healthcare billing experience required
  • At least 3 years of home health billing experience required
  • Prior supervisory or management experience required
  • Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and home health billing regulations
  • Strong understanding of OASIS, physician orders, and Plan of Care requirements
  • Proficiency with home health billing systems such as HCHB or similar platforms
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration abilities

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all billing functions for Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, Medicare Advantage, and commercial payers
  • Ensure timely and accurate claim submission in compliance with regulatory and payer requirements
  • Monitor denial rates, payment variances, aging accounts receivable, and billing timeliness
  • Reconcile revenue, cash posting, and payer remittances with the finance department
  • Maintain readiness for regulatory audits and surveys
  • Ensure billing practices align with OASIS completion, physician orders, Plan of Care certification and recertification, and visit documentation standards
  • Collaborate with intake, authorization, clinical leadership, and quality assurance teams to resolve billing and documentation issues
  • Develop and review billing performance reports, including denials, authorization issues, days in A/R, and delayed billing opportunities
  • Provide regular revenue cycle performance updates to executive leadership
  • Lead, train, and mentor billing staff while establishing clear workflows, accountability, and productivity expectations
  • Implement process improvements to enhance billing accuracy, compliance, and cash flow
