About The Position

The Director of Baptist University Clinical Education Network (BUCEN) is responsible for oversight and coordination of clinical training sites for undergraduate medical student education throughout Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation. This role functions as the primary administrator supporting the day-to-day operations of the clinical education network with centralized and standardized clinical training processes ensuring compliance with accreditation standards while building and maintaining strong relationships with clinical partners. This position is under the administrative direction of the Assistant Dean OMS-3 and works collaboratively with the Assistant Dean OMS-4. Additionally, the Director of BUCEN manages direct reports on campus and at various clinical sites to effectively support clinical training needs throughout the clinical education network. Responsible for department operations 8 hours/day, 5 days/ week and for resolving issues which may occur at any time. Incumbents are subject to hours beyond the normal workday.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Education, Health Sciences, Leadership, or equivalent years of experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience in medical education and/or academic experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Earned Doctorate degree from an accredited institution in Administration, Leadership, Higher Ed, or related field. (PhD or EdD)
  • Seven (7) years of experience in medical education and/or academic experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manages day-to-day operations of third- and fourth-year clinical rotations, including student scheduling, placement, curriculum delivery, and timely submission of evaluations.
  • Collaborates with clinical partners to expand and develop rotation offerings and ensures effective use of learning management systems to support communication and documentation.
  • Serves as the primary liaison with affiliated hospitals and clinics, ensuring strong partnership communication and collaboration.
  • Manages all affiliation agreements, including review, updates, and coordination with academic and legal teams.
  • Oversees student onboarding, credentialing, and compliance requirements, while ensuring all institutional and accreditation obligations outlined in partner agreements are consistently met.
  • Leads the recruitment, credentialing, and retention of qualified preceptors dedicated to high quality clinical instruction.
  • Provides ongoing faculty development, onboarding, and recognition programs to support clinical educators and promote excellence in teaching.
  • Collaborates on the development and ongoing revision of educational policies, while monitoring key performance metrics to ensure continuous quality improvement and regional site comparability.
  • Supports remediation efforts to maintain high academic and clinical training standards.
  • Trains and coaches site directors and specialists to serve as point of contact for clinical students, providing mentorship, guidance, and support.
  • Directs administrative staff and daily operational processes to ensure efficient workflow and accurate data management.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that strengthen and advance undergraduate medical education clinical training.
  • Oversees and manages department budget processes to ensure clinical education network is effectively funded and operational.
  • Performs other accountabilities as assigned or directed.
