About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Athletic Communications to lead and manage all communication efforts for our athletic department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sports communications, media relations, and strategic messaging to enhance the visibility and reputation of our athletic programs.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Sports Management, or a related field required.
Minimum of five years of experience in athletic communications, sports information, or a related field.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong knowledge of athletic communications, media relations, digital content creation, and social media platforms.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with content management systems and other communication tools.
Active member of a local church with a commitment to Oklahoma Christian University's mission and Christian values.

Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies for the athletic department.
Serve as the primary media contact and spokesperson for athletic events and initiatives.
Manage all press releases, media guides, social media content, and promotional materials.
Coordinate interviews, press conferences, and media appearances for coaches and student-athletes.
Collaborate with coaches, staff, and administration to ensure consistent messaging.
Oversee the athletic department’s digital presence, including website content and social media channels.
Monitor media coverage and provide regular reports on communication effectiveness.
Lead and mentor the athletic communications team to achieve departmental goals.
