About The Position

The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications & Marketing will work alongside the Director to promote Capital University Athletics' 23 varsity teams and engage supporters, fans, and student-athletes. This role will serve as the primary media contact for multiple programs, assist with in-game operations, and manage the Capital Athletics streaming partnership with FloSports. A significant responsibility will be the creation of creative graphics, videos, and social media posts to maintain the Capital Athletics brand. This position will lead all creative media production and management for Capital Athletics and its individual teams, and will also manage the department's student game-day and office staff. Additionally, the role will serve as the Campus Advisor for the Pride of the Purple Student Section.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in sport management, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Previous work experience in a sports information or athletic communications department is desired.
  • Proven experience in video streaming, video editing, AP Style writing, graphic design, and/or social media use is required.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary media contact for multiple programs.
  • Aid with in-game operations for various sports.
  • Manage the Capital Athletics streaming and partnership with FloSports.
  • Assist in maintaining the brand for Capital Athletics through the creation of creative graphics, videos, social media posts, etc.
  • Take the lead on all creative media production and management for Capital Athletics and the individual teams.
  • Take on enhanced responsibility for managing the department's student game-day and office staff.
  • Serve as the Campus Advisor for the Pride of the Purple Student Section.
  • Game management.
  • Statistics entry.
  • Game recapping.
  • News release and feature story writing.
  • Creation and management of website content (athletics.capital.edu).
  • Create digital assets for Capital Athletics and individual sports teams.
  • Contribute to a strong digital presence through video, social media, and graphic design.
  • Assist in the management of student office and game day staff.
