The Director of Assessment directs and performs screening of potential patients for admission and initiates the integrated assessment process. In a clinical capacity, the Director assists administration, physicians, and clinical staff in evaluating pending admissions to determine the appropriate level of care, and communicates pending admissions to the nursing department. The role uses approved admission criteria to recommend the least restrictive appropriate level of care and initiates the plan for the episode of care at admission across all levels of care. The Director serves as a liaison among physicians, families, transportation services, and other mental health facilities to coordinate admission procedures. The role ensures vital assessment information is accurately shared with attending physicians and that patient history is complete to support an appropriate level-of-care determination. The Director also communicates with external reviewers and referral sources, conducts required external reviews, and documents interactions in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position at Woodland Springs, a 96-bed behavioral health hospital in Texas. The position requires a master's degree in social work or counseling, an active Texas license, a current unencumbered clinical social work, counselor, or RN license as required by the state, and previous management experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility. CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) are required within 30 days.
