About The Position

Santa Rosa Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (SRBHH), formerly Aurora Santa Rosa Hospital, opened in 2016 and is a key part of the Northern California mental health system. Located in the North Bay, SRBHH has 144 acute psychiatric inpatient beds and serves adolescents and adults with mental health conditions and co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse issues. The Director of Assessment & Referral (A&R) provides leadership and manages the daily operations of the intake and admissions process. This role involves developing and communicating program priorities that align with organizational goals. The Director evaluates admission requests and is authorized to admit patients according to established guidelines. The position also requires understanding and managing occupational health hazards, such as bloodborne pathogen exposures.

Requirements

  • Master's Level Licensed Clinician preferred. Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Verbal de-escalation and physical intervention program as approved by the CNO.
  • Behavioral Health and/or Hospital background required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a clinical, supervisory and/or administrative role in an inpatient and/or outpatient mental health setting.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required, or obtained within initial orientation period.
  • Familiarity with continuum of care and clinical terminology.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patients at all times.
  • Sensitivity to and willingness to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
  • Proficiency with software and/or equipment (Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects, work relatively independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work with people with a variety of background and educational levels.

Responsibilities

  • Builds, directs, manages, and ensures implementation and effectiveness of the hospital’s assessment and referral program.
  • Directs the activities of A&R staff, monitors performance, provides feedback, reinforces positive behaviors, and addresses problems.
  • Responsible for scheduling and staffing to ensure adequate coverage in the A&R Department.
  • Maintains TRIMS documentation and other administrative documentation related to calls and services.
  • Collaborates on the information infrastructure to support departmental efficiency and performance, ensuring timely data collection, distribution of progress reports, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Serves as the department’s fiscal manager.
  • Carries out personnel management activities including screening, selection, orientation, training, development, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Performs related duties as requested.
  • Upholds the Organization’s ethics and customer service standards.
