About The Position
The Director of Architectural Sales and Business Development provides strategic and operational leadership for the Architectural Division and is responsible for the successful execution and growth of the architectural business. This role oversees the full project lifecycle from initial customer inquiry through design, drafting, manufacturing, and shipment while ensuring alignment with company objectives for customer satisfaction, operational excellence, profitability, and growth. As the leader of the Architectural organization, this position serves as the primary link between customers, architects, contractors, sales, engineering, manufacturing, and operations. The Director is responsible for developing organizational capabilities, improving business processes, optimizing project execution, supporting sales growth initiatives, and establishing a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. The successful candidate is a strong leader with architectural, construction, or building products experience who can lead technical and commercial teams, drive operational performance, develop talent, and execute strategic initiatives that support long-term business growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in architectural products, construction, manufacturing, drafting, design, project management, or a related industry.
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience managing technical, commercial, or cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of architectural drawings, specifications, construction practices, project execution, and manufacturing processes.
- Proven success leading managers, developing high-performing teams, and driving organizational performance.
- Demonstrated experience implementing process improvements, operational efficiencies, and scalable business practices.
- Experience managing complex customer projects and collaborating across multiple departments.
- Proficiency with CAD software, Microsoft Office, ERP systems, CRM platforms, and project management tools.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to balance customer needs, operational requirements, and financial objectives.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead strategic initiatives while maintaining focus on operational execution and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction, and development for the Architectural Design, Drafting, Inside Sales, and Architectural Sales teams through effective management of department leaders and supervisors.
- Establish and achieve departmental goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and operating standards that support company objectives related to growth, customer satisfaction, profitability, and operational excellence.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the Architectural Division by evaluating workflows, eliminating bottlenecks, standardizing processes, and implementing best practices that improve efficiency, quality, and scalability.
- Oversee project execution from cost estimates and quotations through manufacturing and shipment to ensure accuracy, quality, profitability, and on-time completion.
- Serve as the senior technical and business resource for customers, architects, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Foster collaboration between Sales, Design, Drafting, Engineering, and Operations to ensure successful project execution and exceptional customer experiences.
- Monitor project performance, team productivity, customer responsiveness, backlog, and key operational metrics to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Partner with executive leadership on forecasting, budgeting, strategic planning, staffing, market development, and business growth initiatives.
- Support key customer relationships, strategic accounts, and high-profile projects while ensuring a high level of responsiveness and service.
- Develop succession plans, talent development strategies, and workforce capabilities to support the future growth of the Architectural Division.
- Maintain accountability for departmental performance, resource utilization, operational efficiency, and achievement of business objectives.
