About The Position

Christian Living Communities is looking for a Director of Annual Giving to lead their fundraising efforts and build lasting relationships with donors. The role involves crafting compelling appeals, managing donor data, and designing strategies to grow giving year over year. This position requires close collaboration with the Communications, Philanthropy, and Finance teams. The Director will be responsible for leading the annual giving program, creating donor-centered content, overseeing the donor database and gift processing, analyzing giving trends, planning fundraising events, and managing grant strategy and submissions. A key aspect of the role is building relationships within the communities by interacting with residents, families, and team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, philanthropy, public relations, marketing, business or a related field required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in annual giving, fundraising, donor relations, nonprofit development or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of annual giving best practices, including donor acquisition, retention, stewardship, segmentation, appeals, campaigns and fundraising events.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to create persuasive, audience-focused fundraising and donor communications.
  • Strong fundraising database experience required; experience with Bloomerang or a comparable donor CRM preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with a commitment to database accuracy and data integrity.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and other tools used to organize, analyze, and report fundraising and financial information.
  • Strong project-management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, communications, events, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to set goals, measure results and adjust strategies based on performance and data.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with donors, residents, families, team members, organizational leaders, and community partners.
  • Ability to work both strategically and hands-on in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Nice To Haves

  • Event planning and grant-writing experience is a plus
  • Fundraising event planning and coordination experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead fundraising strategy — Build and run our annual giving plan, set goals, and manage a calendar of appeals, campaigns, and events across mail, email, digital, and social channels
  • Write compelling content — Create donor-centered appeals, newsletters, acknowledgements, and event materials that tell our story and inspire giving
  • Own donor data — Oversee the donor database and gift processing, ensuring records are accurate and financials reconcile with our Finance team
  • Turn data into strategy — Analyze giving trends, retention, and campaign performance to sharpen future fundraising decisions
  • Run events & grants — Plan fundraising events from budget to execution, and help manage our grant strategy and submissions
  • Build relationships — Spend time in our communities getting to know residents, families, and team members
