About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement, the Director of Alumni Engagement, Queens is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing Queens alumni engagement opportunities. The director serves a critical role as ambassador for the University, building strong and sustained relationships with all undergraduate and graduate alumni and engaging them in meaningful ways through communications, experiences, volunteerism and philanthropy. Community is foundational to Queens and a shared responsibility within our residential campus. All who work at Queens should demonstrate an understanding of and engagement with Queens’ foundational commitment to relationships, mentoring and collaboration in a close-knit residential community. Requirements

• Requires a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
• Seven to ten years professional experience in sales, marketing, communications, events, customer service and/or volunteer management preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Preference will be given to applicants who are alumni of Queens University of Charlotte.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, presentation), including exemplary poise, tact and diplomacy when working with a wide range of constituents and diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to lead, develop and support team members to achieve delivery of high-quality programs and fundraising initiatives by providing meaningful and motivating coaching, training and feedback.
• Strong reasoning skills and the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make well-thought-through recommendations.
• A desire to grapple with complex systems and to simplify and improve intricate processes.
• Preferred experience in project management in similar roles.
• Demonstrated competence with technology, with preference given to applicants who are familiar with Slate for Advancement, social media, and other commonly used Advancement platforms.
• Demonstrated organization and planning skills (strategic, short- and long-term); strong follow-up and follow-through skills to ensure achievement of strategic plans, goals and objectives.
• Strong reasoning skills and the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make well-thought-through recommendations.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and to effectively prioritize assignments to meet given deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Foster lasting relationships between the University and its constituents and establish a structured, systematic program of engagement opportunities that will ensure ongoing, meaningful relationships with students, alumni and donors.
• Hold a portfolio of leadership annual giving prospects.
• Lead volunteer committees in the planning of milestone and affinity reunion events as well as planning the logistics and programmatic pieces of reunion that all classes attend.
• Coordinate with volunteers in key cities to support events and local members of the Queens community that support pride and philanthropy for the College.
• Support giving day activities such as Giving Tuesday and QUnited through identifying alumni advocates, completing their training and providing day of support.
• Develop relationships through scheduled meetings with key volunteer leaders on the Alumni Association Board.
• In collaboration with the executive committee, plan annual meetings.
• Lead the Homecoming committee, comprised of students, alumni and staff in planning the week of activities including but not limited to invitations, programmatic schedule of events and fanfest.
• Lead the development of alumni affinity programming to extend engagement opportunities for alumni constituents.
