The University Advancement Division furthers the university and its mission through several departments, including Development, Corporate & Foundation Relations, Alumni Engagement & Annual Giving, and the Georgia State University Foundation. The Office of Alumni Engagement & Annual Giving fosters lifelong relationships between Georgia State University and its more than 285,000 alumni worldwide by strengthening affinity, deepening connections to the university, and creating meaningful opportunities for engagement, advocacy, volunteerism, and philanthropy. Building upon the legacy of the Georgia State Alumni Association, founded in 1929, the office serves alumni across the lifelong engagement continuum and supports alumni and supporters throughout the donor continuum, creating opportunities to stay connected, informed, involved, and invested in Georgia State's future. Whether through alumni programs and events, regional engagement, career and networking initiatives, volunteer service, annual giving campaigns, or donor stewardship efforts, the office provides multiple pathways for alumni and supporters to engage in ways that are meaningful to them. Through an integrated approach to alumni engagement and philanthropy, the office is building a sustainable engagement ecosystem that strengthens affinity, engagement, advocacy, and philanthropic support for Georgia State University. By advancing volunteerism and leadership opportunities and leveraging data-informed strategies, the team develops a strong pipeline of engaged alumni, donors, advocates, and champions who contribute to the university's continued success and impact. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of supervisory/management experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manages assigned alumni engagement portfolios, which may include affinity-based communities, regional networks, industry, professional and career-focused alumni groups, young alumni populations, and other strategic engagement audiences.
  • Develops portfolio-level engagement plans and initiatives aligned with departmental strategy and priorities.
  • Identifies opportunities to expand alumni participation through targeted programs, partnerships, outreach efforts, and engagement experiences.
  • Implements strategies to increase alumni participation, retention, and progression across assigned engagement portfolios.
  • Identifies opportunities to move alumni from participation to deeper engagement, volunteer involvement, advocacy, and philanthropic affinity.
  • Evaluates portfolio outcomes and recommends enhancements to improve effectiveness, participation, and long-term sustainability.
  • Develops and manages engagement initiatives designed to connect alumni with the university through educational, professional, networking, service, affinity-based, and leadership opportunities.
  • Builds collaborative relationships with colleges, departments, campus partners, alumni groups, and external organizations in support of engagement goals.
  • Identifies opportunities for cross-campus collaboration and coordinated alumni engagement efforts.
  • Develops scalable engagement opportunities that extend beyond traditional event participation and foster ongoing alumni connection.
  • Develops and implements digital and hybrid engagement initiatives that complement in-person experiences and expand audience reach.
  • Evaluates participation trends, engagement data, and emerging opportunities to strengthen engagement strategies within assigned portfolios.
  • Incorporates industry trends and best practices into engagement planning and program development.
  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and manages sponsorship opportunities supporting alumni engagement initiatives and signature programs.
  • Develops relationships with alumni-affiliated businesses, corporate partners, community organizations, and industry leaders to advance engagement objectives.
  • Leads sponsorship cultivation efforts for assigned initiatives and serves as a primary relationship manager for select corporate and community partners.
  • Creates sponsorship proposals, benefit packages, recognition opportunities, and stewardship plans that support long-term partner engagement.
  • Assists in establishing sponsorship goals and identifying revenue-generating partnership opportunities that support alumni engagement priorities.
  • Collaborates with Advancement colleagues to align sponsorship opportunities with university objectives and departmental goals.
  • Tracks sponsorship activity, stewardship efforts, and partnership outcomes and contributes to renewal and growth strategies.
  • Identifies new partnership opportunities that enhance alumni experiences and broaden engagement reach.
  • Designs and develops engagement programs and experiences that align with portfolio goals and audience interests.
  • Serves as the primary lead for implementation of assigned portfolio initiatives and engagement priorities.
  • Provides programmatic direction and engagement objectives for assigned initiatives while partnering with the Events Manager on operational planning and execution.
  • Coordinates with campus partners, vendors, and Advancement colleagues to support successful delivery of engagement programs.
  • Supports the development of virtual, hybrid, and digitally enabled engagement opportunities that complement in-person experiences.
  • Ensures programs reflect departmental standards and provide a positive, inclusive, and meaningful alumni experience.
  • Assists with post-program assessment and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Pilots innovative engagement approaches and programming models that align with evolving alumni interests and university priorities.
  • Monitors engagement outcomes and key performance indicators for assigned portfolios.
  • Utilizes engagement data, participation trends, and constituent feedback to inform recommendations and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provides recommendations regarding portfolio performance, emerging opportunities, audience interests, and engagement trends.
  • Contributes to annual planning and goal-setting processes for assigned engagement portfolios.
  • Prepares reports, presentations, sponsorship updates, briefing materials, and portfolio summaries as requested.
  • Contributes to departmental planning initiatives, special projects, and strategic priorities.
  • Represents the Office of Alumni Engagement & Annual Giving at university events, partnership meetings, and professional functions as needed.
