•$250,000 - $290,000

About The Position

Via is hiring a Director of AI Engineering, Internal Products, to lead an engineering team building high-impact internal products using AI-native development practices. The role will also pioneer an AI-powered platform that enables employees—described as “nano engineers”—to create useful, reliable software with AI agents. The position is intended to shape a new engineering discipline, address problems across the business, and increase the company’s capacity to innovate. The director will build products for functions including Finance, HR, and Operations, as well as tools for field teams to coordinate work, surface operational insights, resolve exceptions, manage resources, and make real-time decisions. They will work directly with employees to understand needs and deliver measurable business impact; rethink software development through coding agents, AI-assisted development, automated testing, and new workflows; and lead the platform’s integrations, permissions, infrastructure, testing, deployment, and governance. The role also includes recruiting and developing engineers, defining architecture and engineering standards, establishing the team’s operating model and culture, and partnering with company leadership to identify high-impact opportunities for software and AI.

  • Experience leading engineers, making architectural decisions, and delivering dependable systems.
  • Actively explores and uses modern AI coding tools and agents, and is excited to rethink how engineering teams operate.
  • Understands security, permissions, integrations, observability, testing, and maintainability, and can apply an appropriate level of rigor.
  • Product-oriented and able to turn ambiguous needs into useful products.
  • Comfortable moving between strategy, architecture, hands-on building, and direct work with business teams.
  • Interested in enabling other people to solve problems independently.
