About The Position

Leading Educators is seeking a Director of AI-Enabled Instruction, ELA to lead the transformation of literacy instruction through the integration of high-quality instructional materials, artificial intelligence, and evidence-based coaching. This role involves designing and implementing a scalable model to equip educators with the necessary tools, knowledge, and support for impactful ELA teaching. The Director will guide a Robin Hood Foundation-supported literacy initiative and shape the broader AI-enabled ELA strategy for Leading Educators. Working collaboratively with system leaders, teachers, coaches, and product teams, the position will focus on co-creating, piloting, and refining instructional supports that maintain curriculum rigor while leveraging AI technology. The role operates at the intersection of instruction, innovation, and systems change, influencing literacy instruction for thousands of students.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years of combined experience in ELA instruction, coaching, and adult learning.
  • At least 5 years of ELA classroom teaching experience.
  • At least 3 years of instructional leadership, coaching, or leading HQIM-aligned professional learning.
  • Demonstrated expertise supporting teachers to internalize and adapt curriculum within high-quality instructional materials.
  • Strong pedagogical and content knowledge in ELA, grounded in Science of Reading and Common Core-aligned instruction.
  • Experience implementing HQIM in ELA.
  • Technical fluency with AI platforms and the ability to interpret AI-generated insights to inform instructional design and professional learning.
  • Ability to travel moderately for org retreats, programming, donor meetings, and professional development.
  • Authorization to work for any employer in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a coherent, scalable model for AI-enabled ELA instruction.
  • Lead the design and implementation of a Robin Hood Foundation-supported multi-school literacy initiative.
  • Shape Leading Educators' broader AI-enabled ELA strategy.
  • Co-create, pilot, and continuously refine instructional supports with system leaders, teachers, coaches, and product teams.
  • Design and deliver content-specific professional learning to strengthen teacher practice and deepen instructional implementation.
  • Lead pilots and prototypes with clear learning questions, rigorous data collection, and evidence-driven design pivots.
  • Apply deep ELA pedagogical knowledge, including Science of Reading principles and standards-aligned instruction, to ensure curricular integrity and rigor.
  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams (instruction, technology, research, product, coaching) to align systems and drive coherence.
  • Build educator capacity to internalize, adapt, and implement high-quality instructional materials with fidelity and flexibility.
  • Operate in dynamic, evolving contexts, designing new models and learning iteratively.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to inform strategy and improve instructional impact.
  • Partner with teachers, coaches, and system leaders to translate vision into classroom practice.
