About The Position

The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) is seeking a collaborative, innovative, and student-centered leader to serve as our Director of Academic Advising. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who believes that exceptional advising can transform a student's college experience. Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs/Provost, the Director provides leadership for UMF's academic advising programs and services, supervises professional advising staff, develops training and provides resources for faculty and peer advisors, and builds strong partnerships across campus. The Director also plays an important role in first-year registration, student retention and success initiatives, advising technology, and the assessment and continuous improvement of advising services. We are looking for a leader who can see both the individual student and the bigger picture, someone who enjoys developing people, improving systems, using data to inform decisions, and creating meaningful connections among students, faculty, and staff. Requirements

Master’s degree in student development, adult education, or other related discipline and at least one year of professional work experience OR a minimum of a Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of professional work experience (experience in academic advising, mentoring, counseling, or other related field).
A minimum of 1 year of supervisory, management, or equivalent experience.
Evidence of strong computer literacy and competency including web-based applications and networks.
Evidence of a strong background in data analytics to support departmental direction.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a higher education setting
Experience working in higher education with first-generation college students, individuals with low income, and/or individuals with disabilities.
Strong background in computer literacy and data
Familiarity with advising tools such as degree planner, Navigate (EAB), and/or degree progress.
