About The Position

The Director of Adult Emergency Services Operations provides operational leadership and support across Catholic Charities' adult emergency services programs. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Adult Emergency Services, this position partners with Program Managers to ensure high-quality, safe, and person-centered shelter operations. The Director serves as a resource during operational challenges, mentors new leaders, drives consistency across programs, leads implementation of new initiatives, and supports continuous quality improvement. This position is highly visible and requires a leader who is comfortable balancing strategic initiatives with immediate operational response. This position requires a strong on-site presence on a regular basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Public Administration or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Five years of progressively responsible leadership experience in homeless services, shelter operations or relevant human services
  • Demonstrated crisis management experience
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Has the ability to work with a diverse and/or low-income population, including those who may be experiencing homelessness, unstable housing, and/or mental illness.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day operations support to the adult emergency services locations.
  • Respond to operational challenges and crises that exceed the authority or experience of Program Managers.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex client, staffing, facility and operational issues.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of agency policies and operation procedures across the division.
  • Work in collaboration with AVP to maintain compliance with Federal, State and Local funding/operational expectations.
  • Identify operational risks and develop solutions before they become larger issues.
  • Mentor, coach and develop Program Managers and Supervisors through comprehensive onboarding, continuous leadership guidance and on-going professional development.
  • Provide guidance and assistance during employee performance issues, investigations, and difficult conversations.
  • Help foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate responses to emergencies with Safety/Security, Facilities, Human Resources, External Affairs and Executive Leadership as appropriate.
  • Support incident debriefings and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Lead operational implementation of new initiatives and pilot programs/activities.
  • Assist with quality assurance and reporting as needed.
  • Provide leadership coverage during program manager absences.
