About The Position

The Director of Adult Education serves under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Schools and is responsible for overseeing the overall adult education program. This includes hiring program staff, implementing curriculum, and ensuring compliance with updated program requirements. The role involves conducting student registration and orientation, managing state reporting systems, and collaborating with the Director of Finance on budgeting, grant applications, and mandated state reports. The Director also attends administrative staff and Board of Education meetings as needed and performs other duties as directed by the Superintendent.

Requirements

  • Must be able to meet the State of Michigan continuing education requirements of the Adult Education programs
  • Must have experience working with adult learners
  • Positive working relationships with students, staff and the community

Responsibilities

  • Hiring program staff
  • Overseeing the overall program including the implementation of curriculum and updated program requirements
  • Conduct student registration and orientation
  • Responsible for Michigan Adult Education Reporting System (MAERS)
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance for mandated state reporting (Performance Report, Application for Program, Pupil Accounting, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance for program budgeting
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance to complete grant applications applicable to Adult Education
  • Regular attendance at administrative staff meetings and Board of Education meetings as necessary
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the Superintendent of Schools.
