About The Position

The Director shall demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities in the administration and management of the adult day care program including knowledge and understanding of impaired elderly or disabled individuals, supervisory and interpersonal skills, ability to plan and implement the program and knowledge of financial management sufficient to ensure program development and continuity. The Director shall demonstrate knowledge of supervisory and motivational techniques sufficient to accomplish day to day work, train support and develop staff, plan responsibilities for auxiliary staff to ensure that services are provided to participants. The Director is responsible for the overall management of the ADHC Center's programs and team members. This individual is the provider contact person for the service authorization contractor and is responsible for participation agreements and receiving and responding to communication from DMAS. The Director is responsible for ensuring the initial development of the Plan of Care (DMAS-301) for individuals.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree, of five years of relevant work experience (Required)
  • Have completed, at a minimum, a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience working with older adults or persons with disabilities. This may be paid full-time employment or its equivalent in part-time employment, volunteer work, or internship. (Required)
  • Current licensure as a nursing home administrator from the Board of Long-Term Care Administrators; (Required)
  • Current licensure as a nursing home administrator or assisted living facility administrator from the Board of Long-Term Care Administrators; (Required)
  • Current licensure in Virginia as a registered nurse and two years of experience working with older adults or persons with disabilities. This may be paid full-time employment or its equivalent in part-time employment, volunteer work, or internship. (Required)
  • Be a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional (Required)
  • Be eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional by a recognized accrediting body (Required)
  • Be a qualified occupational therapist or an occupational therapy assistant (Required)
  • Have at least an associate's degree in a discipline focusing on the provision of activities for adults (Required)
  • Have one year full-time work experience within the last five years in an activities program in an adult care setting (Required)
  • Be at least 21 years of age (Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days(Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Meet the direct care staff requirement as defined by Department of Social Services (Preferred)
  • 1 year Supervisory experience (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Maintains current licensing standards with required agencies on yearly inspections.
  • Performs bill collection activities (i.e. follow up calls and letters to families, recording of payments, calls on insufficient funds, etc.) such that goals are made based on number of bills that are paid by the end of the month.
  • Responsible for maximizing net revenue and controlling facility budget.
  • Maintains positive community relationships by maintaining contacts to solicit and input market services.
  • Adheres to documentation regulations and standards as required by the Department of Medical Assistance Services and maintains all regulations.
  • Maintains positive employee relations within the Department as observed from employee comments, employee satisfaction survey results, turnover rates, feedback from Human Resources Department, exit interviews, etc.
  • Follows up timely on complaints, concerns, or grievances.
  • In working relationships, the Department Director consistently demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with all constituencies.
  • He/she cooperates harmoniously with others in the accomplishment of the system goals and shares information appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensures labor expense is appropriate compared to increase in revenue goals.
  • Employee performance appraisals conducted according to established guidelines and completed by due date.
  • Responsible for managing or coordinating structured recreation program.
  • Maintain personal interaction with the participants and familiarity with their needs and interests.
