About The Position

Powers Catholic High School in Flint is seeking a Director of Admissions & Community Outreach. This is an exempt position reporting to the President of Powers Catholic High School. The Director of Admissions at Powers Catholic High School leads all admissions, enrollment management, and community outreach efforts to attract and enroll families. This full-time, 12-month position manages the full applicant experience from inquiry through enrollment, ensuring a highly organized and welcoming process for prospective students and families. In addition to overseeing admissions operations, the Director plays a key role in building and sustaining community partnerships, continuing relationships with elementary schools and parishes to increase visibility and support long term enrollment goals. The Director represents Powers Catholic in the broader community, coordinates outreach events, and implements engagement strategies that reflect the school’s Catholic identity and values. The Director collaborates closely with school leadership, faculty, counselors, and the Advancement Team to support strategic enrollment goals, deepen community relationships, and promote the mission of Powers Catholic High School.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience in school admissions, enrollment management, or marketing strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Catholic or independent school settings is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to a wide variety of personalities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of organization, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a mission-driven team.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and social media platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive admissions and enrollment calendar, including all tasks, deadlines, events.
  • Plan/execute two outreach events per month.
  • Coordinate the August 1 transition of admitted students to the New Students team in collaboration with the Principal.
  • Schedule and facilitate school tours and shadow days, ensuring a welcoming, intentional experience for visiting families.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to communicate with families by phone to build rapport and support timely completion of materials.
  • Coordinate with Administration and the Finance Committee to set appropriate recruiting and enrollment goals.
  • Plan and execute all evening admissions events, including: Open House, Second Open House during Catholic Schools Week, General Information Presentations, Parent Q&A Sessions, Welcome Packet Distribution, Admitted Students Nights.
  • Direct the new student paperwork and registration workflow by identifying digitizable forms, required signature documents, and establishing clear parent completion timelines.
  • Manage the full application and enrollment process for transfer students, ensuring smooth onboarding and communication.
  • Facilitate and manage the full applicant experience, from inquiry through enrollment, ensuring clarity, organization, and hospitality.
  • Support all aspects of the admissions and enrollment management process with professionalism and mission alignment.
  • Manage applicant data and files across platforms, including FACTS, Google Drive and Rediker Software.
  • Communicate with families to ensure timely submission of application materials and required documentation.
  • Coordinate placement testing, including scheduling, administration, and reporting of results to appropriate teams.
  • Share applicant information, files, and status updates with administrative and counseling teams to support informed decision-making.
  • Generate excitement and buy in for each step of the admissions and enrollment process through relational communication and mission aligned messaging.
  • Collaborate with social media partners to publicize admissions dates, events, and key milestones.
  • Manage the acceptance process, including weekly mailings (every Friday), reminders (every Thursday), and timely communication with families.
  • Update the admissions application to include: Ability to pay tuition, Behavioral reports, IEPs/504s, Name of the sending school (for back-tuition checks and needs assessment).
  • Notify counselors and coordinate review of applications for students with IEPs, 504 plans, or behavioral concerns.
  • Create a charitable, mission aligned process for denying admission when necessary.
  • Coordinate with the Board representative to schedule monthly Enrollment Committee meetings (minimum of five per year).
  • Create and update the Admissions section of the website, including a “Click here to receive updates/information” button.
  • Create and distribute an Admissions newsletter to keep prospective families informed and engaged.
  • Build strong relationships with community partners, elementary schools, and parishes to increase visibility and generate leads.
  • Represent Powers Catholic at community events, recruitment fairs, parish gatherings, and outreach initiatives.
  • Conduct monthly outreach strategies including phone calls, texts, home visits, tours, and events to keep families engaged and reduce attrition.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective families, providing expert guidance and support throughout the admissions journey.
  • Cultivate relationships with current families to encourage sibling enrollment and word-of-mouth referrals.
  • Partner with the Advancement office to develop and execute a school specific marketing strategy that promotes awareness and drives enrollment.
  • Collaborate with social media partners to publicize admissions dates, events, and success stories.
  • Create and update the Admissions section of the website, including digital inquiry pathways.
  • Produce admissions materials, welcome packets, newsletters, and event collateral.
  • Utilize available tools and marketing platforms to track leads, analyze engagement, and inform strategy.
  • Provide regular reports and data-driven insights to the President and Enrollment Committee.
  • Coordinate all admissions events with Advancement and Counseling staff including: Open Houses, Catholic Schools Week events, Parent Q&A sessions, Admitted Student Nights, New Family Welcome events, Transfer student onboarding.
  • Prepare materials, coordinate logistics, and collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure successful execution.
  • Ensure all events reflect the mission, hospitality, and excellence of Powers Catholic.
