About The Position

DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center is seeking a dedicated and creative Director of Activities to lead and manage our Activity Department. This role is responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating engaging programs that enhance the quality of life for our residents. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, and experienced in working within a healthcare or human services environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of college coursework in occupational therapy or a related field
  • Completion of an approved 36-hour Activity Director course
  • At least two (2) years of experience in program planning within a human services setting
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and administrative practices
  • Current CPR certification
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with a team
  • Ability to lift, move, and assist with equipment as needed
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and engaging in activities
  • Strong manual dexterity for arts, crafts, and program facilitation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interaction with residents and families

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive activity program for residents
  • Plan and lead group and individual activities that promote engagement and well-being
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate Activity Department staff
  • Coordinate volunteer programs and community involvement
  • Participate in resident assessments, care planning, and interdisciplinary meetings
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and department budget
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Act as liaison between residents, families, staff, and outside organizations
  • Support Resident Council and related initiatives
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized activity environment
