In this vital role, you will serve as a strategic analytics leader for the U.S. Obesity business, translating complex market, customer, patient, competitive, and performance data into clear business recommendations. You will lead the secondary analytics agenda supporting market development, launch readiness, brand strategy, customer engagement, and performance management. The ability to influence senior leaders, challenge assumptions, and communicate complex findings through clear executive narratives is essential. This is a Flexible Commuter role based at the Amgen site in Thousand Oaks, California. You will work on-site a minimum of three days per week.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree and 4 years of analytics experience
  • Master’s degree and 7 years of analytics experience
  • Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of analytics experience

  • Significant experience using secondary data and advanced analytics to influence commercial strategy and improve business performance in biopharmaceuticals, healthcare, life sciences, or another analytically complex industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise and influence senior leaders by translating complex or conflicting evidence into clear recommendations, trade-offs, and actions.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience supporting market development, launch readiness, customer strategy, field execution, or brand performance.
  • Proven ability to define ambiguous business problems, establish structured analytical approaches, and convert findings into meaningful strategic or tactical recommendations.
  • Experience integrating healthcare data sources such as prescription, claims, patient, HCP, payer, access, affiliation, digital, or promotional data.
  • Experience leading advanced analytics, AI, automation, or decision-support initiatives from use-case definition through implementation and adoption.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional, matrixed, or direct-report teams, prioritize competing demands, manage external partners, and maintain accountability for results.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, facilitation, and visual communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex concepts for executive audiences.
  • Experience in obesity, cardiometabolic disease, General Medicine, or a complex launch environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic analytics advisor to senior commercial leadership, providing an objective and forward-looking perspective on market dynamics, business performance, risks, opportunities, and investment choices.
  • Own and evolve the secondary analytics agenda for the U.S. Obesity business, ensuring that priorities align with critical business questions, launch milestones, and commercial decisions.
  • Integrate internal and external data sources to generate actionable insights on HCP and patient behavior, product adoption, competitive dynamics, access, channels, and market performance.
  • Translate analytical findings into recommendations that shape brand strategy, market development, customer targeting, field execution, resource allocation, and performance improvement.
  • Lead executive performance management, scenario planning, and high-priority investigative analyses to identify business drivers, anticipate trends, and recommend actions.
  • Partner across Marketing, Sales, Finance, Forecasting, Market Research, Competitive Intelligence, Value and Access, Medical, and the broader OI&A organization to align assumptions and inform decisions.
  • Direct internal, matrixed, and external analytical resources, establishing clear priorities, quality standards, timelines, and accountability for business impact.
  • Advance the organization’s analytical capabilities by implementing new data sources, advanced methodologies, AI-enabled tools, governance standards, and best practices while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
