About The Position

The Director- North Americas Ethics & Compliance plays an important role ensuring the effective adaptation and implementation of JLL’s global ethics and compliance program, including Anti-Financial Crime, Data Privacy, Anti-Bribery & Corruption Human Rights and Ethics. The role will report to the Head of Ethics & Compliance, Americas and work collaboratively with the Global Ethics & Compliance team and business stakeholders. This role is part of the Ethics and Compliance Center of Excellence within JLL’s Global Legal function. As a strategic partner to JLL's North Americas business leaders, you will guide and to effectively promote and implement global compliance policies and programs. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that these policies and programs align with regional laws and regulations and in fostering a culture of ethics and compliance within the organization. Alongside this, you will be responsible for staying informed about newly enacted laws and regulations, effectively communicating their requirements to the relevant stakeholders. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience and demonstrated capability managing corporate compliance and financial crime risk in North America
  • Strong understanding of FINTRAC compliance requirements and Canadian AML regulations
  • Law degree or Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Business mindset with ability to balance compliance requirements against operational realities and commercial objectives
  • Strong stakeholder presence and effective communication and collaboration skills to build strong relationships and ensure compliance culture across the organization, with extensive experience working with global teams and senior leaders across matrixed organizations
  • Responsive and agile – moves quickly and adeptly to address compliance matters, regulatory changes, and business needs
  • Commercial, pragmatic, solution-driven and critical thinking abilities to navigate complex ethical dilemmas and regulatory changes
  • Curiosity and innovative mindset, utilizes AI as a tool to enhance skills, staying adaptive and proactive in shaping ethical practices in a changing risk and business environment
  • Experience in advising on the implementation of corporate compliance frameworks—policies, procedures, and controls
  • Deep knowledge of corporate compliance topics such as financial crime and anti-corruption matters, Privacy (PIPEDA), AML (including FINTRAC and FinCEN regulations), ABAC, fraud detection, conflicts of interest prevention, and market abuse for multinational companies
  • Self-starting and entrepreneurial with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and operate with a sense of urgency
  • Exceptional team player with collaborative working style

Responsibilities

  • Support the Americas Head of Ethics & Compliance (E&C) and global E&C team to deliver and enhance JLL's corporate compliance program, focusing on North American compliance
  • Partner and collaborate with Ethics & Compliance Risk Heads to localize and implement JLL’s policies and programs
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business leaders across North America, serving as a trusted advisor who demonstrates strong stakeholder presence and effective communication and collaboration to build strong relationships and ensure compliance culture across the organization
  • Establish yourself as the primary point of contact for compliance-related communications in North America with both internal stakeholders and external regulatory authorities, responding with speed and professionalism
  • Develop and deliver training on policies, procedures, and guidance materials for North America with a commercially pragmatic and solution-driven approach that enables business objectives
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of compliance systems and technologies for efficient monitoring and reporting in Canada and the United States, moving quickly and adeptly to address evolving needs
  • Conduct reviews of processes, procedures, and training programs across North America to ensure compliance with policies while maintaining a business mindset that balances risk with operational efficiency
  • Ensure JLL's activities comply with relevant state, Federal, and Provincial regulations while providing practical, business-focused guidance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable data privacy laws and regulations, including Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), U.S. federal and state requirements including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and other evolving privacy frameworks.
  • Advising business units on data handling practices and responding to and escalating privacy-related inquiries and incidents
  • Maintain and enhance JLL's existing FINTRAC (Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada) compliance program, ensuring ongoing adherence to AML requirements and reporting obligations in Canada
  • Serve as FINTRAC officer
  • Stay current on regulatory and compliance requirements in Canada and the United States, including evolving FINTRAC guidance and FINCEN regulations, responding quickly to adjust company policies and procedures accordingly
  • Address inquiries and requests from regulators in a timely and responsive manner, demonstrating agility in problem-solving
  • Provide guidance and support to employees in addressing compliance issues with a solution-driven approach, including reviewing client agreements and helping develop business practical actions when needed
  • Apply commercial, pragmatic, solution-driven and critical thinking to navigate complex ethical dilemmas and regulatory changes
  • Raise significant North American compliance issues and activities to the Americas Head of Ethics & Compliance, presenting commercially viable solutions
  • Provide comprehensive reporting and analysis of corporate compliance matters to relevant stakeholders and committees, tailoring communications to business priorities
  • Promote a strong, values-driven ethical culture within the organization by demonstrating responsiveness, collaboration, and a commitment to practical compliance solutions
