About The Position

This leader will oversee and direct the Neuroscience Service Line and act as the operational director of the Pediatric Stroke Program, Epilepsy Program and Neurodiagnostic Services (EEG, EMG, Sleep and Interoperative Monitoring) across BJC Healthcare. The Director, Neurosciences and Spine Service Line will lead system-level strategy implementation and operations for the Neurosciences Service Line and Spine programs, partnering with surgical, procedural, diagnostic, and physician dyad leaders to coordinate care across BJC East Region. They will work collaboratively with clinical partners to identify and establish strategies for Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuro and Ortho Spine and Neuro-Oncology/Brain Tumor programs. This leader will focus on retention of existing business and development of new programs across all BJC system East Region sites of service with the overall objective of growing market share and improving access of the neuroscience and spine service lines both regionally, nationally and internationally. This Director will be responsible for the improvement of quality and consistency of care delivered across multiple BJC sites of service. They will oversee and direct the Neuroscience Service Line and act as the operational director of the Pediatric Stroke Program, Epilepsy Program and Neurodiagnostic Services (EEG, EMG, Sleep and Interoperative Monitoring) across BJC Healthcare. They will partner with operational and clinical leadership to ensure consistency quality of inpatient and outpatient neuroscience, spine, and neuro-oncology services and protocols.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in healthcare management or Related Field
  • 5 or more years of experience in Program or Service line responsibilities
  • 2 or more years of leadership experience

Responsibilities

  • Create innovative models of care, successful implementation of priorities, clinical effectiveness and excellence in patient care measured by clinical outcomes.
  • Provide comprehensive financial oversight for the department, including developing and managing budgets, monitoring expenditures and revenue and forecasting financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies, preparing financial reports for leadership, and implementing corrective actions to meet fiscal targets and control costs.
  • Responsible for business operations for neuroscience and spine including contract management with WUSM, vendors and services.
  • Develop and implement strategic growth initiatives to expand services, strengthen partnerships, increase market share, and improve patient access and revenue.
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding requirements and sets clear, measurable performance goals.
  • Be responsible for conducting regular performance reviews, coaching and course corrections as needed, and creates individualized development plans to address skill gaps.
  • Monitor progress against goals, reports outcomes to Sr. leadership, and adjusts staffing and development strategies to ensure team objectives are achieved.
  • Serve as an operational expert on spine, neuroscience and neuro-oncology regarding billing and financial performance, managed care needs, performance improvement, regulatory compliance, and future trends in new treatments, pharmaceuticals and technology.
  • Leverage data, quality improvement methods, and performance metrics (e.g., throughput, length of stay, readmissions, patient experience) to drive measurable improvements in clinical quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Build internal and external partnerships, develops clinical and operational leaders, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement, equity, and patient-centered care.
  • Lead System Neuroscience & Spine Service Line work in partnership with clinical and operational leaders across HSOs and through partnership with BJC's Center for Clinical Excellence to increase value of services delivered to consumers through use of Clinical Integration approaches and mindset.
  • Direct Service Line operations of community, academic Stroke & CV Centers, Epilepsy Centers, Sleep, Intraoperative Monitoring, and Neurodiagnostic Services.
  • Engage in leader standard work with executive rounding to maintain contact with direct patient care of the nursing divisions, clinics, neuro imaging areas.
  • Create partnerships with clinical and operational leaders, in a triad model of nursing, physician and operations, to create innovative models of care, successful implementation of priorities, clinical effectiveness and excellence in patient care measured by clinical outcomes.
  • Lead System Neuroscience & Spine Service Line work in partnership with clinical and operational leaders to increase value of services delivered to consumers through use of Clinical Integration approaches and mindset.
