About The Position

The National Director, Event Procurement is responsible for leading the Event Procurement team, directly supporting the broader Event Operations team, in developing, driving, and executing effective sourcing strategies. This role also owns and manages key partner relationships across venues, hotels, travel partners and critical event suppliers.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of hotel/venue procurement strategies, sourcing methodologies, and contract negotiation.
  • Familiarity with hospitality industry trends, suppliers, and products.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to utilize data to make informed decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Leadership experience, with a demonstrated ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
  • Proficiency in event housing related software and tools.
  • High ethical standards and commitment to compliance and sustainability
  • Bachelors’ degree in business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years within procurement or event operations experience in a related industry.
  • Experience in direct management of individuals.
  • Proven experience in procurement and sourcing, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar management role.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead end-to-end event procurement strategy, sourcing, and purchasing processes
  • Partner with Event Operations to align procurement strategies with event needs and drive operational excellence
  • Define sourcing categories and establish national, regional, and local standards as appropriate
  • Develop and execute category strategies to leverage scale, structuring partnerships that improve service levels, drive cost efficiencies, and elevate the event experience
  • Own and manage strategic supplier and partner relationships across venues, hotels, and critical event services/supplies
  • Lead complex supplier negotiations, and provide support to team members in the management of their designated suppliers/categories
  • Drive data-informed supplier selection, performance management, and continuous improvement
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation and compliance strategies
  • Develop and manage business plans, budgets, and performance metrics across categories, regions, and event calendars
  • Establish clear procurement processes, roles, and governance to ensure alignment and efficiency across functions
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Procurement team, fostering high performance, accountability, and professional growth
