About The Position

The Director provides strategic and operational leadership for the assigned nursing department, ensuring delivery of safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care. The Director is responsible for staff management, budget oversight, regulatory compliance, and achievement of departmental goals. This role partners with physicians, hospital leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes, promote professional practice, and support continuous improvement within the organization. The Director has the highest level of decision-making authority, including approving and enforcing departmental and organizational policies, staffing models, and practice standards. They direct resource allocation, hiring decisions, and corrective actions, and lead departmental initiatives impacting patient outcomes, staff engagement, and financial performance. The Director serves as the highest authority on nursing operations within the assigned department.

Requirements

  • Current State of Alaska Registered Nursing License or State of Alaska LCSW License for the Mental Health Unit
  • BLS Certification
  • Produce a negative drug screen for all illegal substances in the State of Alaska prior to the start of employment.

  • Master’s in Healthcare Administration and previous experience in specialty area
