Director, Medical Excellence & Operations
About The Position
Solid Biosciences is seeking a Director, Medical Excellence & Operations to build and lead the operational backbone of its Global Medical Affairs organization. This individual will establish the systems, processes, governance, metrics, technology platforms, and operational infrastructure needed to enable a high-performing, scalable Medical Affairs function. Reporting to the Executive Director, Global Head of Medical Affairs, the role will serve as a strategic partner to Medical Affairs leadership and play a critical role in operationalizing the organization’s vision, ensuring excellence in execution, resource management, insight generation, and cross-functional integration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 7-10+ years of experience in Medical Affairs Operations, Commercial Operations, Clinical Operations, or related functions.
- Demonstrated experience building operational infrastructure in a growing biotechnology or pharmaceutical organization.
- Strong analytics, project management, budgeting, and leadership skills.
- Experience supporting global Medical Affairs organizations preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement the Medical Affairs operating model, governance structure, and annual planning processes.
- Develop scalable processes, SOPs, and best practices to support organizational growth.
- Drive operational excellence across all Medical Affairs activities.
- Develop departmental dashboards, KPIs, and performance metrics.
- Establish mechanisms to measure Medical Affairs impact and effectiveness.
- Lead Medical Affairs annual planning, goal setting, and business reviews.
- Translate medical insights and operational metrics into strategic recommendations.
- Manage Medical Affairs budgets, forecasting, and resource allocation.
- Oversee grant, sponsorship, congress, publication, and vendor budgets.
- Develop tools and processes to track investments and outcomes.
- Lead implementation and optimization of Medical Affairs technologies and platforms.
- Partner with IT and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure operational efficiency and data integrity.
- Establish infrastructure for insight management, publication planning, field medical effectiveness, and medical information capabilities.
- Support medical governance committees and cross-functional decision-making forums.
- Manage Medical Affairs vendors and agency partnerships.
- Establish performance metrics and oversight processes for external partners.
