Director Medical Education

MoonLake Immunotherapeutics US, Inc.•Miami, FL

About The Position

The Director Medical Education will lead the strategy, development, and execution of commercial healthcare professional (HCP) education and peer-to-peer engagement to support launch readiness and post-launch execution in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). The role translates HCP insights, clinical evidence, and brand priorities into educational programs that address knowledge gaps and support informed, appropriate treatment decisions. The Director will build the speaker bureau, educational content, agency partnerships, and operational capabilities needed to deliver scalable national, regional, local, and digital programs. Working with HCP Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Commercial Operations, Market Access, Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance, the role ensures programs are scientifically accurate, measurable, and appropriate to the product’s regulatory status. Responsibilities include developing the education launch roadmap; establishing and managing the speaker bureau; leading educational content and peer-to-peer program execution; enabling field teams; managing agencies, vendors, operations, and budgets; and measuring and optimizing program performance. The position also maintains appropriate distinctions between pre-approval disease-state education, branded promotional activity following approval and required review, and non-promotional scientific exchange.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least 8 years of progressive biopharmaceutical experience, including substantial responsibility for commercial HCP education, peer-to-peer marketing, speaker bureau management, or related HCP marketing initiatives.
  • Demonstrated product launch experience, including building or scaling speaker bureaus and educational programs from pre-launch planning through post-approval execution.
  • Experience leading content review, agency relationships, program operations, and budgets.
  • Strong scientific and commercial judgment, with the ability to translate complex clinical evidence and HCP insights into clear learning objectives, compelling educational content, and practical launch plans.
  • Working knowledge of FDA promotional requirements, speaker program governance, applicable HCP interaction and transparency requirements, and medical, legal, and regulatory review processes.
  • Ability to distinguish commercial education from independent education and non-promotional scientific exchange.
  • Excellent communication, cross-functional influence, and external partnership skills.
  • Hands-on project management, financial discipline, and analytical rigor, with the ability to manage competing priorities and build scalable programs in a fast-paced biotech launch environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree such as MSc, MBA, PhD, PharmD, or MD.
  • Experience in immunology, dermatology, rheumatology, or a related specialty or chronic disease area.
  • Experience in HS or PsA and competitive specialty launches.

Responsibilities

  • Build the education launch roadmap, including milestones, speaker readiness, content availability, field resources, and program infrastructure.
  • Distinguish permitted pre-approval disease-state education from branded promotional programs activated only after approval and required internal review.
  • Establish and manage the speaker bureau, including speaker identification, selection, contracting, onboarding, training, and ongoing readiness.
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance on documented speaker selection criteria, fair-market-value compensation, program oversight, and required reporting.
  • Lead development of speaker decks, case-based modules, facilitator resources, and live, virtual, and on-demand educational experiences.
  • Deliver national, regional, and local programs and promotional congress symposia, ensuring scientific accuracy, appropriate balance, required medical, legal, and regulatory review, and consistency with the approved label where applicable.
  • Partner with HCP Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Commercial Operations, Market Access, and review functions to integrate education into launch plans and HCP engagement.
  • Equip field teams with approved program resources and execution guidance, incorporating feedback while maintaining clear boundaries between promotional activity and non-promotional scientific exchange.
  • Select and manage medical education agencies, speaker program vendors, and technology partners.
  • Own scopes of work, budgets, forecasts, timelines, and delivery standards, and establish scalable processes for program requests, approvals, logistics, documentation, and compliant execution.
  • Define launch-readiness milestones and program KPIs, including audience reach, participation, educational relevance, knowledge change, execution quality, and budget efficiency.
  • Partner with Insights & Analytics to evaluate results and refine content, channel mix, and resource allocation.
