About The Position

Labcorp Oncology is seeking a Director, Medical Affairs - Oncology and Hematologic Malignancies to join their team. This physician leader will provide clinical and scientific expertise across hematologic malignancies and broader oncology diagnostics. The role involves serving as a key medical representative, engaging with healthcare providers, academic leaders, payers, professional societies, and other stakeholders to advance the understanding and adoption of evidence-based diagnostic strategies. The Director will partner closely with cross-functional teams to support scientific exchange, medical education, market access initiatives, evidence generation, and customer engagement activities. This individual will maintain expertise in evolving oncology practice standards and represent Labcorp Oncology at major scientific meetings, customer engagements, and industry forums.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certification in Hematology, Medical Oncology, or Hematology/Oncology.
  • Fellowship training in Hematology, Medical Oncology, or Hematology/Oncology.
  • 7 or more years of combined clinical practice, academic medicine, diagnostics, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, laboratory medicine, or medical affairs experience following fellowship training.
  • 3 or more years of experience developing medical education programs, scientific content, and training materials.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 or more years of medical affairs experience within diagnostics, precision medicine, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or laboratory services organizations.
  • 3 or more years of experience with molecular diagnostics, genomic profiling, biomarker testing, or precision oncology.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Knowledge of hematologic malignancies, precision oncology, molecular diagnostics, and evidence-based oncology care.
  • Understanding of oncology treatment pathways, practice guidelines, and emerging therapeutic trends.
  • Ability to critically evaluate scientific literature and translate data into clinically relevant insights.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with healthcare providers, payers, key opinion leaders, and other stakeholders.

  • Expertise in hematologic malignancies and familiarity with broader oncology treatment paradigms.
  • Experience engaging healthcare providers, health systems, payers, academic institutions, or industry stakeholders in scientific exchange activities.
  • Experience supporting payer engagement, reimbursement strategy, or evidence generation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a medical expert and ambassador for Labcorp Oncology across hematologic malignancies, precision oncology, and related diagnostic services.
  • Build and maintain scientific relationships with community oncologists, hematologists, academic investigators, key opinion leaders, and professional societies.
  • Provide physician-to-physician consultation regarding oncology diagnostics, biomarker strategies, test utilization, and evolving standards of care.
  • Participate in customer-facing scientific discussions, advisory boards, educational programs, and strategic stakeholder engagements.
  • Participate in customer engagements, including pre-call planning, scientific presentations, peer-to-peer discussions, and follow-up activities.
  • Support a medical call schedule and provide timely responses to provider inquiries requiring physician-level expertise.
  • Monitor emerging clinical evidence, treatment paradigms, and professional guidelines to identify opportunities for evidence generation, education, and clinical adoption.
  • Represent Labcorp Oncology at national, local, and international scientific meetings.
  • Develop and deliver medical education programs for internal and external audiences focused on oncology diagnostics, hematologic malignancies, precision oncology, and biomarker testing.
  • Lead development of medical content including presentations, molecular tumor boards, evidence summaries, FAQs, training materials, and educational resources.
  • Support onboarding, training, and ongoing education initiatives for commercial and cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure scientific communications remain accurate, balanced, and aligned with current clinical evidence.
  • Provide medical expertise supporting market access initiatives and discussions regarding the clinical utility of oncology diagnostic testing.
  • Partner with Market Access, Commercial, Marketing, Product, Research, and Laboratory teams to support organizational priorities.
  • Contribute clinical insights to payer-facing materials, policy reviews, coverage discussions, and evidence-based value propositions.
  • Monitor reimbursement trends and healthcare system factors impacting adoption of oncology diagnostic testing.
  • Support development of clinical research initiatives, real-world evidence programs, publications, abstracts, and scientific presentations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external investigators to expand evidence supporting oncology diagnostic applications.
  • Contribute to scientific communication strategies highlighting the clinical value of Labcorp Oncology's diagnostic portfolio.
