About The Position

At Travelers, Market Researchers collaborate across the company to inform business decisions, drive winning go-to-market strategies and enable the business to capitalize on change. They provide strategic consulting and actionable insights; helping the business grow profitably, build the Travelers brand, and positively position the company in the marketplace. As a Market Research Director, you conduct and oversee complex research that analyzes and synthesizes internal and external data to identify market and industry opportunities, understand competitors' actions, and monitor trends and their impacts to the business, today and tomorrow. You work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure research projects are aligned with business objectives and provide valuable insights for decision-making. This role may have people leadership responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 5 years of market research or related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, economics, mathematics, psychology, anthropology or comparable analytical degree.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate information clearly and effectively, demonstrating an understanding of the audience.
  • Highly effective collaboration skills, including with vendors, business partners, and leaders.
  • Strong ability to create and cultivate relationships and use them to inform business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business and/or insurance concepts.
  • Advanced ability to analyze multiple, disparate data sets to derive conclusions and/or research recommendations.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 or more years of market research or related experience.
  • 1 or more years of leadership/management experience.
  • MBA, Master of Research, or other advanced degrees.
  • Financial Services/P&C experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of, and experience conducting, secondary research including: Market sizing Competitive Intelligence Trends Analysis Economic/Financial Analysis

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and oversee complex secondary research projects by leveraging numerous sources and methodologies, working with complex and sometimes conflicting datasets.
  • Proactively recommend appropriate sources and/or methodologies to be used for each initiative.
  • Use a wide range of methodologies and sources to synthesize research findings into clear and actionable insights to support business decision-making.
  • Develop research projects and associated deliverables, including documentation such as proposals, project plans, data specs, and final reports; act as a strategic consultant and frequently presents findings to internal partners.
  • Manage timelines and resources effectively across multiple projects, with minimal management support and oversight.
  • Assess accuracy, credibility, and appropriateness of data while ensuring quality standards are met.
  • May serve as an Engagement Lead or member of an Engagement Team for one or more businesses or corporate functions.
  • This position may manage other staff, which would include responsibility for monitoring the work quality of the team and providing coaching and performance management for those staff members.
