About The Position

Reporting to the Vice President, Market Access & Channel Strategy, the Director, Market Access Operations is a highly visible leadership role and core member of the Market Access Leadership Team. This role is accountable for building and sustaining the operating infrastructure that enables the Market Access organization to execute with clarity, discipline, and measurable business impact. Beyond operational execution, the Director will serve as a key business leader responsible for enterprise business planning, governance, performance management, analytics prioritization, resource planning, leadership team effectiveness, organizational effectiveness, vendor oversight, and cross-functional execution across Market Access. The Director will help shape strategic priorities, drive accountability, and ensure alignment of resources, capabilities, and performance objectives across the organization. This leader will connect priorities across Market Access functions, establish scalable processes, generate meaningful business insights, and support data-driven decision-making. The role will serve as a strategic advisor to the Market Access Leadership Team, helping translate organizational priorities into actionable plans, governance processes, performance metrics, and execution frameworks. The position partners closely with Commercial, Patient Services, Field Reimbursement, Care Navigation, Managed Markets, Pricing & Contracting, Channel Strategy, Finance, Training, Compliance, Legal, Business Analytics, and external partners to ensure coordinated execution and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or related industry experience.
  • Significant experience in market access, business operations, commercial operations, patient services, analytics, strategy, finance, or related functions.
  • 5+ years leading teams, direct reports, matrixed resources, or complex cross-functional initiatives preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex initiatives and delivering results in a matrix organization.
  • Experience managing budgets, resources, business planning processes, vendors, and operational programs.
  • Understanding of payer markets, reimbursement, specialty pharmacy / specialty distribution, market access operations, and patient support services preferred.
  • Strong business acumen, operational discipline, and ability to translate strategy into execution.
  • Expertise in performance management, data analytics, business intelligence, dashboard development, and executive reporting.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights, recommendations, and decision-ready materials.
  • Strong executive communication, presentation, facilitation, and storytelling skills.
  • Proven ability to influence without direct authority and drive alignment across senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong financial, planning, organizational management, and vendor-management capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, prioritization, decision-making, and change-management skills.
  • High degree of learning agility, adaptability, judgment, and discretion.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a core member of the Market Access Leadership Team, helping translate strategic priorities into actionable operating plans, governance routines, and measurable outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain business processes, operating procedures, decision-making forums, and governance frameworks that support organizational effectiveness and scalable growth.
  • Drive operational excellence across Market Access by coordinating priorities among field teams, patient support functions, managed markets, channel strategy, and home-office stakeholders.
  • Monitor key business initiatives, identify execution risks, and ensure timely follow-through on leadership priorities.
  • Identify operational gaps, risks, and opportunities, and lead process improvements that improve efficiency, accountability, and business performance.
  • Partner with Business Analytics and cross-functional stakeholders to define Market Access KPIs, performance measurement frameworks, reporting requirements, and analytics governance.
  • Own the business prioritization of Market Access reporting and analytics requests, ensuring resources are focused on the highest-value business questions and decisions.
  • Translate business needs into analytical requirements and partner with analytics teams to develop dashboards, reports, and performance-monitoring capabilities.
  • Lead recurring business and performance reviews with Market Access leadership, identifying trends, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
  • Ensure leadership has access to timely, actionable insights that support informed decision-making, resource allocation, and execution discipline.
  • Develop executive presentations, business reviews, and decision-support materials for the Market Access Leadership Team and senior stakeholders.
  • Lead annual business planning, budget management, resource allocation, and headcount planning processes for Market Access.
  • Support organizational design, workforce planning, role optimization, and capability development initiatives across Market Access functions.
  • Partner with Finance and Market Access leadership to assess organizational needs, evaluate investment trade-offs, and align resources to business priorities.
  • Track and monitor utilization of budgets, resources, systems, and operational investments, escalating risks and recommendations as appropriate.
  • Lead, coach, and develop direct reports and/or dedicated operational resources as assigned; influence matrixed teams to deliver against shared priorities.
  • Partner with Patient Services, Field Reimbursement, Care Navigation, Managed Markets, Pricing & Contracting, Commercial, Training, Compliance, Legal, Finance, and other stakeholders to drive operational effectiveness and business performance.
  • Serve as a liaison across functions to identify, prioritize, and resolve operational issues that impact Market Access execution.
  • Lead cross-functional projects, process improvement initiatives, and implementation efforts impacting Market Access and related stakeholders.
  • Facilitate communication and alignment with alliance partners, external vendors, and strategic business partners as appropriate.
  • Provide oversight for Market Access technology platforms, data assets, reporting tools, and external operational partners that support business operations and performance management.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contract negotiations, governance processes, business reviews, and performance expectations in partnership with Procurement, Legal, Finance, and functional owners.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance organizational capabilities through technology, analytics, automation, and process improvements.
  • Support implementation, adoption, and optimization of systems that improve efficiency, reporting quality, user experience, and business impact.
  • Lead planning and execution of Market Access leadership meetings, business reviews, field meetings, POAs, and key organizational forums.
  • Develop executive-ready presentations, business updates, agendas, pre-reads, follow-up materials, and communications that drive understanding and action.
  • Ensure consistency and alignment in reporting, messaging, priorities, and operational execution across the Market Access organization.
