About The Position

ResMed Motor Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Director of Manufacturing to ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and business systems. This role involves identifying opportunities for business improvement to supply world-class quality products. The Director will establish an appropriate structure and environment to optimize performance across manufacturing and warehouse operations, aiming to achieve performance targets in line with safety, quality, and cost expectations. The position requires active participation in reviewing production metrics to understand and drive performance, forecasting and addressing warehousing needs, and establishing quality standards and metrics aligned with safety, productivity, regulatory compliance, quality, and advanced technology needs. The role also involves ensuring compliance with local legislative requirements, maintaining optimal operating conditions for equipment, managing external resources, and driving the development and implementation of production systems to meet global production needs. Responsibilities include processing, advising, and supporting product development, commissioning new products, maintaining quality, and reducing non-value-added work. The Director will ensure the implementation of the health and safety management system within their areas of responsibility and monitor the health and safety performance of direct reports. A key aspect of this role is supporting and driving the Six Sigma Lean continuous improvement program and navigating the growing complexity of the supply chain as the business evolves globally. Collaboration with planning and human resources is essential to establish resource requirements in conjunction with production plans, and effective resource allocation is expected. The role demands the implementation and driving of accountability across people management, leadership, development, and employee engagement to foster a preferred workplace culture. Developing, motivating, and mentoring the team, enhancing productivity and quality through continuous improvement systems, employee development, and multi-skilling are crucial. Establishing open communication mechanisms to improve workplace relationships and productivity, and advocating for a culture and behavior that encourages all production employees to operate in a fair and safe work environment are also key. The Director will utilize business information systems for effective management and reporting of performance against targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field of study
  • 10 years of progressive manufacturing and engineering experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (like medical device manufacturing).
  • Demonstrated experience with 5 years manufacturing and product quality management in medical device industry.
  • Demonstrated experience with building and leading manufacturing operations teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with advanced manufacturing technologies
  • Demonstrated experience with process development for new product introduction.
  • Demonstrated experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience with driving safe work practices in manufacturing operations.
  • Demonstrated experience with working in cross functional teams globally.
  • Any and all experience may be gained concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory and other business systems.
  • Identify opportunities for business improvement and supply world-class quality products.
