About The Position

ResMed Motor Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Director, Manufacturing to ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory and other business systems. This role involves identifying opportunities for business improvement and supplying world-class quality products. The Director will ensure an appropriate structure and environment to optimize performance across manufacturing and warehouse to achieve performance targets in line with safety, quality, and cost expectations. They will actively participate in the review of production metrics to understand and drive production performance, forecast and address warehousing needs for current and future manufacturing requirements, and establish quality standards and metrics in alignment with safety, productivity, regulatory compliance, quality, and advanced technology needs. The role also ensures compliance with local legislative requirements, maintains optimal operating conditions for productive equipment, and manages external resources. The Director will drive the development and implementation of production systems to meet global production needs, process and advise on product development, commission new products, maintain quality, and reduce non-value-added work. They will ensure the implementation of the health and safety management system within areas of responsibility and monitor the health and safety performance of direct reports. The position supports and drives the Six Sigma Lean continuous improvement program and navigates the growing complexity of the supply chain as the business evolves globally. Collaboration with planning and human resources is key to establish resource requirements in conjunction with production plans, and effective and efficient resource allocation is achieved by collaborating with appropriate stakeholders. The role involves implementing, driving, and ensuring appropriate accountability across people management, leadership and development, and employee engagement to ensure the business achieves and maintains a preferred workplace culture. The Director will develop, motivate, and mentor the team, enhance productivity and quality through continuous improvement systems, employee development, and multi-skilling. Establishing open communication mechanisms to enhance workplace relationships and productivity, and advocating for a culture and behavior encouraging all production employees to operate in a fair and safe work environment are also key responsibilities. Utilization of business information systems for effective management and reporting of performance against targets is expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field of study
  • 10 years of progressive manufacturing and engineering experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (like medical device manufacturing)
  • 5 years manufacturing and product quality management in medical device industry
  • Building and leading manufacturing operations teams
  • Advanced manufacturing technologies
  • Process development for new product introduction
  • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement

Responsibilities
