Position Objectives: The Director, Manufacturing Operations provides leadership and oversight across both plant operations and the business functions that support manufacturing. This role is responsible for engineering, production, and plant execution, while also overseeing purchasing, inventory and materials management, costing and estimating, business analytics, reporting, and project scheduling. The Director ensures efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing performance by aligning design, production planning, and operational priorities with material availability, cost accuracy, and project timelines. By integrating both operational and business perspectives, this position drives coordination between plant execution and business processes to support seamless production and achieve company objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, Manufacturing or a related field preferred.
  • Extensive leadership experience overseeing engineering and production operations in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience developing and implementing operational processes, production workflows, and performance standards required.
  • Experience leading large scale manufacturing operations, including staffing, resource planning, and equipment oversight required.
  • Modular manufacturing, construction related manufacturing, or engineered product manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating with safety, quality, or compliance functions preferred.
  • Ability to interpret technical information, engineering documentation, and production data required.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct engineering and production teams.
  • Ability to evaluate operational performance and implement improvements.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of modular manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and cross functional teams.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Modular manufacturing, construction related manufacturing, or engineered product manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership and direction across engineering, production, plant operations, purchasing, inventory management, costing, estimating, business analytics, and project scheduling functions.
  • Oversee key leaders to ensure coordinated planning, communication, and execution across all functions.
  • Establish operational priorities, production goals, and performance expectations aligned with company objectives.
  • Ensure alignment between engineering deliverables, production planning, material availability, project schedules, and manufacturing execution.
  • Oversee production planning, procurement, and scheduling to ensure efficient workflow, resource allocation, and timely delivery of projects.
  • Ensure purchasing and materials management activities support production needs, cost objectives, and project timeline.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of accurate cost estimates, material take-offs, project budgets, and forecasting processes.
  • Monitor inventory levels and procurement strategies to ensure material readiness and operational efficiency.
  • Lead business analytics and reporting functions to provide accurate performance metrics and actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Develop and maintain operational and business processes that ensure safety, quality, productivity, and cost control.
  • Monitor overall performance across operations and business functions, identify issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce delays, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Ensure effective cross-functional communication between engineering, production, procurement, and business teams.
  • Review and approve major operational and purchasing decisions, vendor selections, resource allocations, and equipment needs in coordination with senior leadership.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and support to ensure teams are properly trained, equipped, and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Oversee plant operations to ensure daily activities meet safety, quality, and output expectations.
  • Support long-term planning for operational capacity, staffing, material strategies, cost structures, and process improvements.
  • Participate in strategic planning and provide both operational and business insights to support company initiatives.
  • Foster a professional, collaborative, and high-performing work environment across all teams.
  • Perform other executive-level duties as assigned by the President.
