Director, Legal

Solo.io, Inc.

About The Position

Solo.io is hiring an in-house Director of Legal to lead the company’s legal work. The role reports to the CFO and works closely with the CEO and leadership team. It is based in Boston or remote within the United States, and may require occasional travel. The Director will serve as a legal partner across commercial contracts, employment, privacy, open source, corporate governance, and strategic matters, handling most work directly and engaging outside counsel when appropriate. The position is described as an opportunity for a candidate with a strong commercial contracts background to gain broader commercial, employment, and corporate law experience as a step toward a General Counsel role. The core of the role is reviewing, drafting, and negotiating customer, partner, reseller, and vendor agreements, NDAs, and order forms. The Director will own and update contract templates and playbooks, including provisions concerning AI, data, and security, and help make legal operations fast and streamlined by using Ironclad, AI tools, and value-added processes. Other work includes advising on privacy and security commitments, open source licensing, and specialized matters handled with outside counsel; maintaining standard documents, policies, and procedures; and potentially supporting employment, corporate, AI governance, trade compliance, export control, and marketing communications matters. Solo.io builds infrastructure for cloud connectivity and AI workloads and works with enterprise customers, partners, and open source communities. The company says it is unable to provide visa sponsorship; applicants must be authorized to work in the United States permanently without current or future sponsorship. Solo.io is an Equal Opportunity Employer. The company may use AI tools to help sort applicants based on job-related criteria, but the hiring team decides who advances and AI makes no employment decisions.
