About The Position

Sonar is seeking a bold and visionary Director, Legal – US Commercial to lead and scale its US Commercial Legal team. As the global leader in AI code verification and governance, Sonar partners with industry giants to ensure that software generated by AI-assisted developers and autonomous agents is reliable, secure, and maintainable. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, this role serves as a strategic partner to the business, balancing risk mitigation with high-growth revenue enablement. The Director will lead, mentor, and empower a team of commercial legal professionals responsible for all US commercial contracting initiatives, including enterprise sales, channel partnerships, and vendor procurement. The position requires a proactive, solution-oriented leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and excels at cross-functional collaboration. Key responsibilities include managing and developing the US commercial legal team, overseeing and negotiating complex commercial transactions, driving alignment across business functions, and optimizing legal operations through technology and process innovation. The Director will also serve as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders on contract terms, risk profiles, and regulatory shifts, supporting Sonar’s continued growth and global expansion.

Requirements

  • J.D. with active Bar admission.
  • 10+ years of commercial and technology legal experience (including SaaS and software negotiations).
  • Significant in-house experience at a high-growth technology or software company.
  • Demonstrated leadership.
  • Deep domain expertise in SaaS, software licensing, intellectual property, and data protection.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity in a dynamic environment.
