About The Position

The Director - Laboratory leads and directs laboratory personnel responsible for collecting and testing specimens to provide physicians with timely, accurate results. The role oversees a wide range of administrative and technical activities, manages revenue and operating budgets, and is responsible for personnel. The Director works closely with Pathologists, ensures compliance with regulations and standards, maintains accreditations and licensures, and is accountable for implementing, communicating, and monitoring laboratory functions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• At least 5 years of experience working in a hospital laboratory with progressive leadership responsibilities.
• Clinical Lab Supervisor license.

Responsibilities

• Ensure staffing is appropriate for laboratory services and volume.
• Develop and manage personnel and operating budgets on an ongoing basis.
• Promote organizational goals within the department and seek opportunities to influence other parts of the organization.
• Follow and support the principles of Target 100.
• Achieve annual departmental goals as applicable.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with the SMMC competency assessment process and timely evaluations.
• Maintain an effective department orientation, training, and staff development process.
• Facilitate staff communication by conducting meetings and providing minutes to staff and administration.
• Participate in community or hospital functions.
• Comply with, support, and/or participate in the NPSG and Leapfrog Safety Leaps as applicable to the department.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and standards, and maintain accreditations and licensures.
• Oversee laboratory personnel and administrative and technical activities, working closely with Pathologists.
