This role oversees and directs the development, planning, implementation, maintenance, and transition of specific information systems and services. The Director is responsible for the design and installation of systems, and directs their operation and maintenance. This includes planning, budgeting, setting rates, and staff development and supervision. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assists with setting the strategic direction for information strategy, systems, and services. Oversees and directs specific information systems and services in support of University business continuity and day-to-day operations. Organizes and directs the activities of the department. Hires, disciplines, and/or discharges subordinates. Evaluates performances, recommends salary adjustments, and initiates other personnel actions. Plans and implements training programs. Establishes policies and procedures for IT systems and services. Employs technical and administrative expertise in the development of specifications for information systems and services in support of University of Rochester objectives. Keeps abreast of trends and technical developments in the field by self-study, participating in job-related seminars, courses, or conferences and liaison with vendors. May represent the University in organizations and initiatives at the local, state and national level. Manages administrative services related to specific University-wide information systems and services, including budgeting and billing for services. Other duties as assigned.
