About The Position

The IT Organizational Change Management Director provides strategic leadership for enterprise change across a large, complex technology organization ensuring execution against organizational goals and delivery of committed value in an increasingly digital and AI-enabled environment. This role develops and implements adaptive, forward-looking change strategies across a portfolio of strategic investments, technology transformations, and initiatives—leveraging learning agility, intellectual curiosity, and calculated risk-taking to continuously evolve approaches in the face of rapid disruption. This position anticipates and responds to the organizational impacts of emerging technologies—including AI, automation, and advanced digital tools—ensuring change strategies account for shifting workforce expectations, new ways of working, and evolving capability needs. This leader oversees major change initiatives, governance frameworks, and budgets, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy, regulatory expectations, and adoption outcomes. The Director leads high-performing teams and fosters a culture of experimentation, continuous learning, and resilience—enabling the organization to navigate ambiguity and scale transformation effectively. Serving as a trusted advisor, the Director influences enterprise decision-making and partners with senior leaders to drive integrated transformation outcomes. The role strengthens change governance, enhances adoption workflows through digital enablement, and champions continuous improvement. It also ensures vendors and partners are aligned to deliver innovative, scalable solutions that accelerate McKesson’s long-term digital and transformation objectives.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise change management, transformation program leadership, governance, and strategic planning for large-scale technology environments.
  • Advanced communication and executive-level storytelling skills for presenting insights, recommendations, and strategic direction on transformation outcomes.
  • Ability to lead multi-initiative change portfolios and consult as a senior adviser to executives, peer Directors, and cross-functional leaders.
  • Demonstrated learning agility and adaptability, with the ability to rapidly understand and respond to emerging trends, technologies, and evolving business needs.
  • Intellectual curiosity and innovation mindset, with a track record of exploring new approaches, tools, and ideas to improve organizational outcomes.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and risk, including the ability to make informed decisions and lead through uncertainty in fast-evolving transformation environments.
  • Strong understanding of AI, automation, and digital transformation trends and their implications for workforce strategy, organizational design, and change management.
  • Strong understanding of financial management, operational controls, and adoption/performance measurement frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority in highly matrixed environments, build partnerships, and align diverse stakeholders toward shared goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Prosci, CCMP, ACMP, or equivalent change management certification
  • Experience with digital transformation, cloud migration, agile transformation, platform modernization, or operating model redesign.

Responsibilities

  • Direct development and execution of enterprise change management strategies, aligning change priorities with AI-enabled transformation, digital modernization, and evolving business models.
  • Lead cross-functional planning and implementation of change programs, tools, and leverage digital tools, automation, and data-driven insights.
  • Oversee integrated change portfolios, collaborating with Technology and Business leaders to ensure consistent delivery, risk mitigation, and mitigation of cumulative change saturation.
  • Provide leadership for change governance activities, shaping standards, performance measures, adoption metrics, and compliance expectations across the technology organization.
  • Optimize change processes, stakeholder engagement, and adoption performance through continuous improvement, analytics, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead with learning agility and curiosity and translating insights into actionable change strategies.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and investment priorities for the change function; drive year-over-year cost improvements and financial stewardship.
  • Oversee vendor strategy, contract alignment, and service-level performance for change-related partners, serving as relationship owner when required.
  • Serve as a thought leader by analyzing trends, developing strategic recommendations, and advising senior leadership on emerging transformation opportunities, organizational readiness, and resistance management.
