About The Position

Establish and manage the governance frameworks, policies, and oversight mechanisms that guide how IT plans, prioritizes, delivers, and measures its work. • at least 3 years in a leadership role

  • Experience building or maturing IT governance programs including policy development, portfolio oversight, and compliance management
  • Demonstrated experience managing IT audit relationships and regulatory compliance
  • Familiarity with portfolio management and governance tooling (Jira, ServiceNow, or equivalent)
  • Understanding of higher education regulatory landscape (FERPA, GLBA, HEOA) preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s preferred
  • COBIT, CGEIT, CRISC, CISA, or equivalent certifications strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the IT governance framework aligned with COBIT 2019, defining decision rights, accountability structures, and escalation paths across IT
  • Develop and enforce IT policies covering information security, data management, change management, acceptable use, and technology procurement
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn, access, and appropriately utilize AI tools and technologies as needed to support job functions and enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Manage IT risk identification, assessment, and mitigation tracking across all technology domains including ERP, CRM, data platforms, and AI implementations
  • Coordinate IT audit readiness and response, partnering with internal audit, compliance, and external auditors on findings and remediation
  • Ensure compliance with FERPA, GLBA, HEOA, and applicable accreditation standards
  • Manage the centralized IT project intake and prioritization process, ensuring initiatives are evaluated against strategy, capacity, and resources
  • Establish project governance standards including stage gates, status reporting, and risk escalation — monitoring health across IT teams and flagging at-risk work early
  • Define IT performance metrics and produce governance reporting that gives the VP and institutional leadership clear visibility into operational health and delivery effectiveness
  • Manage vendor governance including evaluation criteria, contract oversight, SLA monitoring, and renewal tracking
