Director, IT & Data Transformation

Nutrition InternationalOttawa, ON
CA$128,000 - CA$160,000Hybrid

About The Position

Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Services & CFO, the Director, IT & Data Transformation is Nutrition International's (NI) senior-most technology leader and a member of its global leadership group. The role keeps NI's technology foundation secure and reliable day to day, while building the data architecture and governance NI needs to operate with confidence and adopt AI responsibly. The Director plays a central role in this work — bringing hands-on AI experience to the role and helping shape how adoption scales responsibly as NI's data and governance maturity grows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline
  • Overall 10+ years of progressive experience, with at least 5 years in a senior technology leadership role in a complex, multi-site organization.
  • Demonstrated experience managing IT infrastructure, MSP relationships, cybersecurity programs, and global IT operations.
  • Hands-on familiarity with LLMs and agentic AI for practical automation and working exposure to vibe-coding and low-code AI tools; comfortable evaluating new tools for quality and risk as they're onboarded into NI's infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Power Platform, Teams), Azure, and SaaS/ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).
  • Proven track record leading enterprise data governance or analytics programs and delivering technology projects using agile and structured methodologies.
  • Strategic thinker who translates organizational needs into technology decisions, with strong judgment and comfort navigating ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
  • Effective communicator across all levels.
  • Skilled at influencing, negotiating, and building relationships with functional directors and senior leadership to align technology support with business priorities.
  • Fluency in English is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP certification is an asset.
  • Working capacity in French is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Lead NI’s IT function globally, overseeing infrastructure stability, cloud migration (Microsoft 365, Azure, SaaS), and end-user computing across HQ and international offices, including low-bandwidth country office environments.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of IT equipment organization-wide — laptops, cameras, printers, photocopiers, and conferencing equipment — from sourcing through retirement, with documented management controls and clearly assigned operational responsibilities at all locations.
  • Own MSP and third-party vendor relationships, including contract management, service level oversight, software asset and licensing governance, and procurement renewals.
  • Own NI’s IT security framework — covering endpoint security, access controls, network and cloud security, and data protection — aligned with ISO 27001 or equivalent and regulatory requirements (GDPR, PIPEDA). Govern user access management including joiner/mover/leaver processes, privileged access, and MFA enforcement.
  • Ensure AI tools and platforms are covered within the security framework, with policies addressing unauthorized use of unsanctioned tools by staff (shadow AI), attempts to extract sensitive data through AI inputs (prompt injection), and corruption of data AI systems rely on (data poisoning).
  • Develop, maintain, and periodically test IT disaster recovery and business continuity plans, accounting for NI’s global context — including country office outages and cloud service disruptions. Report on security posture and continuity readiness to the CFO on a regular basis.
  • Lead system integration across enterprise applications to meet financial, donor, and operational reporting requirements, and provide technical infrastructure, hosting, and security support for NI’s public-facing website in coordination with the Communications unit.
  • Lead the restructuring of NI’s digital information environment away from functional silos and toward an architecture organized around grants, programs, and projects — making relevant information accessible across units regardless of where it originates.
  • Own and maintain NI’s AI Adoption Framework — which sets principles, governance, and staff guidelines for AI use — driving its execution in consultation with the CFO across tool rollout, enterprise application integration, and AI-assisted workflow development.
