About The Position

This role can be located in the Caribbean Banking Market or in Canada where the successful candidate resides. RBC Operations and Strategy, Caribbean Banking team is hiring a Director, Data Transformation. You will lead the strategy development, transformation and integration of data structures to optimize new technology capabilities and data environments that support the transformational use of data across Caribbean Banking. This includes establishing and governing the Data Management and Governance function with a focus on improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to organization behavior policies and standards, principles, governance, processes, metrics, related tools and data architecture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science Business or IT background
• Extensive experience and knowledge of the data environments including the Data Warehouse Environment (DWE), Enterprise Data Lake (EDL), Cloud
• Ability to understand the DWE and EDL with technical acumen guiding data strategy
• Strong knowledge of information technology systems, applications, and data ecosystems to interact with IT and vendors
• Knowledge of and experience with Regulatory, Legislative and Data Privacy policies
• Sound knowledge and understanding of RBC Risk Framework, especially regulatory and legal, reputational and operational risks

Responsibilities

• Develop and drive the overall data management and analytics strategy to meet current and future needs by creating a multi-year roadmap that transforms how data is captured, governed and utilized
• Understand current, and define the target data management and architecture strategy to support our business objectives and improve decision making on the delivery of new and existing products while driving process improvements
• Lead the development, delivery, and execution of key strategic priorities to enable data management access with key partners across Caribbean Banking and The Enterprise (Product Analytics Team)
• Lead the strategy for standing up and governing the Caribbean Banking data management strategy inclusive of developing methods and processes for cleansing data across the bank
• Lead and act as the Data Ecosystem Guardian and Subject Matter Advisor on data ecosystem compliance initiatives (e.g. data warehouse/data lake development, Data Security)
• Provide strategic thought leadership in developing the governance framework for managing and monitoring data risk initiatives, and lead the execution on the Data Risk Governance program
• Tailor and embed learnings and results from data transformational programs into data management practices
• Act as a key strategic leader in providing comprehensive oversight and leadership to support improved operational and decision-making capabilities, new business creation and ensuring regulatory requirements are met
