About The Position

GF is seeking a Director of Internal & Executive Communications to lead the company’s global internal and executive communications strategy across all internal channels in support of business priorities. This role owns how strategy, performance, people programs and change are communicated to employees across digital and in-person channels, including email, executive broadcasts, enterprise platforms, digital signage and emerging AI‑enabled tools. Reporting to the Head of Communications & Marketing this role will serve as a trusted communications advisor to the CEO, executive team and HR leadership. The role shapes messaging that connects enterprise priorities to the employee experience and supports culture, engagement and organizational effectiveness. This role requires a digitally forward‑thinking leader who brings deep experience in digital employee experience, modern channel ecosystems and the practical application of AI to enable teams, scale content and improve effectiveness. Candidates must demonstrate hands‑on experience evolving internal communications through digital platforms and tools; this capability is essential to success in the role. The director leads a global employee communications team, including site-based communicators, and drives enterprise standards for quality, consistency and execution. The role is accountable for end-to-end planning, content development, channel strategy, measurement and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in internal communications, executive communications or related fields with progressive leadership responsibility
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a portfolio of executive and employee communications that demonstrate clarity, judgment and strong voice.
  • Experience leading communications in complex, global organizations with diverse employee populations, including manufacturing or frontline audiences.
  • Demonstrated expertise in modern digital communication platforms and analytics tools that support digital employee experience.
  • Digital and AI capability is essential: Demonstrated, hands-on experience applying AI-enabled tools or automation to improve internal communications effectiveness, enable lean teams and scale content and insights.
  • Proven ability to lead a lean, high-performing team through prioritization, operating discipline, and strong cross-functional partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Evolve the company’s digital employee experience, ensuring employees can easily find, understand and act on key information across platforms and environments.
  • Lead the design, optimization and integration of internal communications platforms (intranet, email, executive broadcast, digital signage and emerging tools), improving reach, usability and effectiveness across office and frontline populations.
  • Apply AI and automation to scale content creation, streamline workflows and generate insights that enable a lean, high-performing global team.
  • Establish enterprise standards for channel strategy, content distribution and platform governance.
  • Continuously improve effectiveness through data, experimentation and employee feedback, driving measurable gains in reach, engagement and comprehension.
  • Own and execute the global employee communications strategy, including an annual communications calendar and enterprise governance to prioritize, coordinate and sequence high-impact communications.
  • Maintain internal messaging standards, voice, brand and editorial quality across channels and sites to improve consistency and reduce noise.
  • Build scalable processes that enable a lean team to deliver high-quality communications with speed and discipline.
  • Lead and develop a global employee communications team, including executive and site-based communicators, setting standards for quality, consistency and execution.
  • Enable local communications teams to tailor messages for site audiences while maintaining enterprise consistency and OneGF alignment.
  • Partner closely with the CEO and executive team to shape messaging on strategy, performance, culture and leadership priorities for internal audiences.
  • Develop executive communications such as talking points, scripts, presentations and written updates for internal forums and employee-facing events.
  • Provide counsel on tone, timing and audience impact for sensitive or high-visibility internal communications.
  • Lead flagship internal communications moments, including quarterly all-hands hosted by the executive team, executive briefings and major companywide announcements, from content development through execution and follow-up measurement.
  • Own post-event analysis and insight generation to continuously improve relevance, clarity, and engagement.
  • Partner with HR leadership to communicate people programs, culture initiatives, organizational updates and employee experience priorities with clarity and credibility.
  • Support HR-led engagement and recognition initiatives, ensuring cohesive global narratives with appropriate local and site-level activation.
  • Drive employee communications for major milestones and change programs, including integrations, organizational updates and enterprise initiatives, with clear timelines and coordinated messaging across sites.
  • Develop change communications plans with sequencing, leader toolkits, FAQs and site-based rollout coordination.
  • Oversee measurement and insight generation for internal communications, including survey design, analysis and executive-level readouts, using data to improve effectiveness.
  • Define and track metrics such as reach, engagement, comprehension and sentiment, and translate findings into clear recommendations.
  • Manage agency and vendor relationships related to employee communications platforms, events, and tools, including scope, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements, and programs.
