About The Position

This role sits with the Chief Innovation and Strategy Officer and is the company’s front door to the external innovation ecosystem — finding the technologies, startups, and partnerships that will shape what Regenity builds next. The Director, Innovation & Strategy is responsible for identifying and initiating external innovation opportunities aligned to strategic platform priorities. This role serves as the company’s primary interface with the external innovation ecosystem, generating a high-quality pipeline of technologies, startups, and partnerships. The role reports to the Chief Innovation and Strategy Officer and has no direct reports. It is an outward-facing position — building relationships across the venture, academic, and startup communities, representing the company at conferences and pitch events, and framing early-stage opportunities clearly enough for executive decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Marketing, or a related discipline required
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in medical devices, biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare, or a related regulated industry required
  • Demonstrated success leading strategic initiatives from concept through execution
  • Experience supporting product development, commercialization, portfolio management, corporate strategy, or business development activities
  • Strong cross-functional leadership experience working with R&D, Marketing, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and Commercial teams
  • Experience developing business cases, market assessments, competitive analyses, and growth strategies
  • Proven ability to influence executive-level decision making without direct authority
  • Strategic thinking and an innovation mindset
  • Commercial acumen and data-driven decision making
  • Executive communication — able to frame early-stage opportunities clearly for senior leadership
  • Influence and collaboration across functions and with external partners

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred
  • Additional training or certification in innovation, product management, strategy, project management, or healthcare commercialization preferred
  • Experience in regenerative medicine, biomaterials, tissue technologies, orthopedics, wound care, ENT, dental, or adjacent markets
  • Experience in M&A integration, partnership evaluation, licensing, or new market entry
  • Experience leading innovation pipelines, stage-gate processes, or portfolio prioritization
  • Exposure to private-equity-backed environments and rapid-growth organizations
  • Global experience working across North America and Europe

Responsibilities

  • Identify emerging technologies, startups, and partners aligned to strategic priorities
  • Build and maintain a structured pipeline of 10 or more qualified opportunities per quarter
  • Initiate 5 or more partnership or licensing conversations per quarter
  • Build relationships with venture capital firms, incubators, and universities
  • Represent the company at conferences, demo days, and pitch events
  • Maintain an active external presence and visibility within the innovation ecosystem
  • Conduct initial qualification of opportunities
  • Deliver concise opportunity summaries that make the case for why each matters
  • Flag high-potential opportunities for deeper evaluation

  • Base: $180,000-$215,000
