The Director, Allied Health Innovation and Practice, helps drive change in allied health care delivery throughout SRAlab’s network by building a culture of performance and integrating clinical care with research and science. The Director, Allied Health Innovation and Practice identifies and directs opportunities for collaboration between allied health clinical leadership, clinicians, research chairs, and research scientists to advance SRAlab’s vision, facilitate collaborative projects, ensure dissemination of new information, and implement changes in clinical practice. The Director’s, Allied Health Innovation and Practice, principal areas of oversight are to lead therapy operations in the Ability Labs and to act as a conduit between clinicians and research scientists for all relevant research initiatives including integrating novel technologies into clinical practice, providing input and insight into the most important clinical problems, and informing the development of clinically relevant research questions. The Director, Allied Health Innovation and Practice leads therapy, internal Staff Development, knowledge translation, and implementation of new research findings into clinical practice at all levels of care (IP, OP, DR) including Alliance partners (IP, OP, DR, Acute Care). The Director, Allied Health Innovation and Practice, works with the Vice President, Operations and Vice President, Strategic Alliances, to create and execute a strategy for knowledge transfer and implementation at the main hospital and throughout the system of care, including Strategic Alliance locations. The Director, Allied Health Innovation and Practice oversees strategic partnerships with academic program partners in PT, OT, and SLP, including residency and fellowship programs in therapy disciplines. The Director, Allied Health Innovation and Practice oversees Ability Lab therapy teams, clinical practice leaders, therapy clinical educators, and Therapy Practice Councils in executing the above aims. The Director, Allied Health Innovation and Practice works with SRAlab’s Global Network leadership in bringing value to Global Network partnerships. Requirements

  • Knowledge of clinical/business practices normally acquired through completion of a master’s degree in rehabilitation-related allied health discipline or business administration.
  • Current licensure or registration in the State of Illinois pertaining to PT, OT, or SLP allied health practice.
  • Minimum of 10 years related experience including 5 years of previous professional management experience, including financial responsibility for a program, practice, or facility.
  • Quantitative and analytic ability to evaluate existing programs, promote research activities, and develop new programs.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to provide strong leadership and communicate effectively with patients, patient families, referring parties, managed care organizations and payors, flagship and other SRAlab system-wide staff.
  • Forward thinking, proactive, and results oriented leader.
  • Working knowledge of information technology tools such as the Microsoft Office Suite, Cerner, electronic medical records, and appropriate web-based applications and services.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate dissemination of knowledge and adoption of best practices from the flagship hospital to all levels of care and with Alliance partners.
  • Facilitate meaningful connection and value between SRAlab and its Alliance partners to differentiate them in the market.
  • Direct Therapy Managers, Ability Labs to integrate therapy processes and procedures into practice, ensuring quality patient care and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Direct therapy specialty areas of practice in the Ability Labs and translates this model into our other sites of care as appropriate.
  • Direct the Therapy Internal Staff Development department as well as the Therapy Professional Development Structure in their capacity as the development and implementation arm for knowledge transfer and changes in practice.
  • Oversee talent development for therapy staff throughout the organization and ensures talent development within our Strategic Alliance partners.
  • Oversee the professional output (i.e., professional presentations, publications) from therapy staff throughout the system of care and increases the professional output from staff and leaders in our Alliance partners.
  • Is a member of the Center for Research Acceleration and partners with Research Chairs to accomplish Center goals.
  • Work closely with VP, Strategic Alliances and Global Network leaders to facilitate knowledge translation and implementation with SRAlab partners.
  • Design, implements, and evaluates initiatives to support achievement of targets in patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (TJC, Medicare, etc.) as well as adherence to best practice objectives.
  • Initiate and implement quality improvements in individual, team and organizational performance utilizing QI and other mechanisms to facilitate resolution of quality issues.
  • Direct, supervise, and monitor appropriate staffing/billed time of inpatient therapy staff in conjunction with the appropriate managers.
  • Collaborate with other hospital departments, leaders, and medical staff to assist SRAlab in meeting its overall goals and objectives.
  • Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
