About The Position

Leads NA Procurement team in developing strategies that secure industry leading service while maintaining cost stability and competitiveness. Responsible for the Inland Operations procurement team, including truck rates and routes, as well as optimization efforts. The overall scope of functional area service procurement includes Rail and Truck transportation contracting, Depot and M&R Services, and Chassis provisioning. The directive is to ensure cargo moves using the most cost-efficient routings. Works cross-functionally and with external groups to accomplish service goals and cost containment goals. Develops and maintains good working relationships with key service providers. Responsible and accountable for all employees reporting directly or indirectly to this position and for ensuring company policy is communicated and followed. Proactively communicates cross-functionally to eliminate controllable service exceptions and operational costs. Identifies opportunities for operational efficiencies and coordinates cross-functional service efforts.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of management experience in the international transportation industry.
  • Proven track record in monitoring and meeting departmental performance and financial metrics.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Management of staff performance, experience in: delegation, performance coaching, feedback
  • Ability to envision, strategize, and capitalize on opportunities
  • Team Player and works cross-functionally
  • Strong analytical ability, acts objectively, and plans for long-term implications
  • Strong service orientation
  • Advanced knowledge of macros, pivot tables, and formulas in MS excel
  • Inland logistics, intermodal and port operations knowledge
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritize
  • Manage container flows as related to schedules and deadlines
  • Applies logical methods utilizing analytical skills and experience for the best-suited approach; able to resolve complex issues
  • 5+ years management
  • 10 + years functional/ industry related
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience overseeing expenditures exceeding $500,000,000 annually, is a plus.
